Job summary

Johnson & Johnson is seeking a Sr. R&D Scientist in Groningen to lead and execute research programs spanning the development and validation of intraocular lenses and related metrology.

You will work within a multidisciplinary team, collaborating with European research partners and US groups to push the boundaries of vision restoration technologies. The role involves designing experiments, developing validation methods, and delivering clear project reports while navigating regulatory expectations

Qualifications

• BS/MS/PhD in Optics, Physics or Vision Science.
• Preferably 3+ years of relevant experience.
• Proficient in optical design principles, using Zemax, OSLO or other design tools to design and simulate optical systems.
• Demonstrated research experience in technology development.

Responsibilities

• Participate in development of concepts for medical devices from ideation to market phase.
• Support and participate in design and development of intraocular lenses and optical metrology.
• Develop test methods and validation systems for intraocular lenses.
• Document design, write protocols and reports to support regulatory submissions.
• Stay current with competitive products and industry trends to inform innovative product design.

Purpose

The Sr. R&D Scientist may be responsible for entire projects or processes within a job area, and is involved in the design, execution, and/or reporting of clinical trials and or studies.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the development of new concepts for unique medical devices from ideation to market phase.
• Support and participate in design and development of new intraocular lenses and new optical metrology for testing intraocular lenses.
• Develop test methods and validation systems to characterize new and existing intraocular lenses.
• Support requirements development, documentation of design, writing and execution of protocols and reports.
• Stay current with the status of competitive products, with cutting-edge medical device industry and with technological trends to ensure innovative product design.
• Investigate and evaluate existing technologies.
• You will contribute to multi-disciplinary research teams and will be responsible for conducting independent research tasks with European research institutes.
• Work closely within a cross-functional team, with senior research staff, and also with research institutes and R&D groups in USA.

Pay

The anticipated base pay range for this position is: €53,500.00 - €85,445.00
