Job summary

Shapeways is seeking a Head of Engineering to run the engineering organization, own MES/ERP systems, and own technical direction. You will split time between people management, project prioritization, and delivering your own projects within the CTO's architecture.

You'll lead a ~7-person engineering team across ~40 services, coordinating with operations, sales, and marketing, while driving AI-enabled workflows to boost velocity and quality.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of experience as an engineering manager or team lead.
• Strong hands-on PHP/Symfony experience and relational DBs (MySQL).
• Genuine interest in people leadership and team coaching.
• Solid project management, prioritization, and stakeholder communication.
• Experience with modern infra practices: Kubernetes, containerization, GitOps.

Responsibilities

• Lead the engineering team day-to-day, plan work, unblock bottlenecks.
• Coach team members, support hiring, structure workflows as the team grows.
• Prioritize AI investments and drive AI-powered workflows across engineering.
