Job summary

ESA’s ESTEC Noordwijk internship in the Systems Department – AI and Data Science Section offers topics spanning knowledge graphs, neural network interpretability, LLM-assisted code generation, quantum-classical AI for satellite data, and agentic-LLM ROS2 control for rover autonomy. You will work on cutting-edge AI methods for space applications under experienced supervision.

Qualifications

• Must be a university student, preferably in final or second-to-last year of Master’s program.
• Knowledge of English and/or French; knowledge of another ESA member state language is a plus.
• Must be able to prove enrollment for the entire duration of the internship.

Responsibilities

• Explore Topic 1–6 and design, develop and evaluate prototypes or workflows as applicable.
• Contribute to the implementation and evaluation of AI/ML pipelines for space applications.
• Collaborate with engineers and researchers to ensure rigorous verification and documentation.
