Space Systems Engineering Intern: AI-Driven Early Phase Study

European Space Agency; Nederland; Ibrido; EUR 13.000 - 18.000; Part-time

Descrizione del lavoro

European Space Agency (ESA) invites an internship in the Systems Department - Space Systems Section, based in Noordwijk, NL. The intern will explore how AI can support modelling of mission concepts and spacecraft design options within early phase studies, collaborating with TEC-SYS and TEC-SFA teams.

You will assess modelling uses, identify toolchains, and prototype interfaces enabling AI agents to interact with engineering tools while supporting continuous improvement and cross-disciplinary

Competenze

• University student, preferably in your final or second-to-last year of a Master’s program.
• You must be enrolled at your university for the entire duration of the internship.
• Working languages are English and French; knowledge of another ESA language is a plus.
• Experience with AI/ML, systems engineering and modelling tools is an asset.

Mansioni

• Assess the modelling use cases for systems engineering during early phase studies.
• Develop a systematic approach to how AI can support modelling mission concepts and spacecraft design options.
• Identify tools and toolchains with which the AI would interact.
• Develop and evaluate interfaces allowing AI agents to use selected modelling and engineering tools.
• Demonstrate the approach through a prototype on representative early phase engineering tasks.
