Job summary

New Orange is a digital technology agency focused on translating complex challenges into seamless and intuitive digital solutions. You work with a small team—a business consultant, an architect and you as an agentic engineer—on the client’s question to define direction and deliver working software that matters.

AI is a natural part of your daily work. You accelerate development, safeguard quality and review AI-generated code for metrics such as maintainability, performance and security.

Qualifications

• Solid experience with software development and complex systems.
• Ability to think in terms of systems and architecture, not just lines of code.
• Experience with AI-assisted software development and agentic workflows or multi-agent systems is a plus.
• Residence in the Netherlands and ability to speak Dutch.

Job description

AI is fundamentally changing software development. Writing code, the work that used to fill most of your day, is increasingly shifting to AI. But understanding what the client really needs, designing the right solution, safeguarding the architecture and assessing whether it all makes sense: that remains human work. In fact, it is becoming more important than ever.

That is why at New Orange, you do not work solo on your own separate piece, but in a close-knit team that is responsible for the full result. You work with three or four people on the same challenge: a business consultant, an architect and you as an agentic engineer. Together, you dive into the client’s question, define the direction and make sure the result is working software that matters. You work side by side, not one after the other: with the client, in the design process and in safeguarding quality.

You get energy from realizing the solution, and you give energy to others by making it work with the help of different code agents. Faster alignment, less overhead and a team in which everyone helps the others get better. You work for clients such as Valk Exclusief, NVM, BOVAG, Ortec and Eindhoven365.

Your role

You work with your team to design and build smart solutions for real client challenges. Together, you create software that aligns with what a client actually needs. By working closely with both your team and the client, you make sure the right decisions are made and that you build solutions that deliver real value.

AI is a natural part of your daily work. You use it to accelerate development, creating more room for architecture, quality and technical decision-making. At the same time, you critically review AI-generated code for quality, maintainability, performance, security and architectural consistency. You are also responsible for making and defending technical decisions, especially when AI has handled a large part of the implementation.

You also contribute to the ongoing development of our code agents, tooling and engineering standards. Together with your team, you continuously look for better ways to collaborate and make effective use of AI. As the technology evolves rapidly, teams learn from one another and help each other improve.

What you bring

You have solid experience with software development and complex systems. You think in systems and architecture, not just in lines of code, and you understand that fast software also needs to be good software. You see AI as a natural part of your work. You have experience with AI-assisted software development and have taken your first steps with agentic workflows or multi-agent systems, or you are motivated to develop further in that direction.

You also have experience with cloud, for example Azure, and API-driven architecture. You enjoy working with others and communicate clearly, because in small teams that build quickly, good alignment becomes more important, not less. You are curious about how the profession is changing and want to help shape that change yourself. You also live in the Netherlands and speak Dutch.

This comes with a salary of €5,500 to €7,500 gross per month, 27 vacation days and a personal development budget, including AI tooling.
