Job summary

ING is offering a master’s thesis internship focused on applying Agentic AI in Risk Management, ensuring transparency, explainability and alignment with regulatory expectations. You will translate research into practical artefacts and evaluate validation for human oversight.

You will collaborate with ING risk, modelling, governance and responsible AI professionals in a collaborative, international environment, shaping use cases with subject-matter experts while contributing to academic research.

Qualifications

• Current enrolment in a relevant master's program (e.g., AI, data science, CS, risk management).
• Interest in Agentic AI, generative AI, model risk management or responsible AI in finance.
• Ability to design and prototype AI-enabled solutions; experience with Python and ML tooling is beneficial.
• Structured research mindset with familiarity in qualitative/quantitative evaluation methods.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to translate governance/regulatory concepts into design/test criteria.
• Clear written and verbal communication, attention to detail, and ability to work with multi-disciplinary stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Define the use case and scope a stage of the model/AI lifecycle.
• Develop an agentic artefact to support risk-management activity.
• Build a transparent validator artefact with explainable review support.
• Evaluate transparency, explainability, and impact on human trust and oversight.
• Review practice on model monitoring, reliability, and responsible AI controls.
• Assess document automation and validation frameworks for AI-generated docs.
• Translate governance expectations (e.g., EU AI Act) into evaluation criteria.
• Communicate findings to ING stakeholders.
