European Space Agency; Noordwijk; On-site; EUR 12,000 - 18,000; Part time

Job summary

European Space Agency (ESA) in Noordwijk is offering an internship in the Utilisation and Enabled Science Team (ACES) to support data analysis of Microwave Link MWL measurements. You will join the ACES team at ESA-ESTEC and work on desynchronisation measurements central to high‑precision clock comparisons.

The program seeks university students in the final or penultimate year who will remain enrolled for the full duration.

Qualifications

• You must be a university student and able to prove enrollment for the entire internship duration.
• Working languages are English and French; knowledge of another ESA language is an asset.
• Knowledge/background in orbital mechanics, time and frequency metrology, data analysis and general relativity is an asset.
• Interest in space science and data analysis will help you contribute to ACES MWL data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Cross-check and validate corrections for signal propagation delays.
• Help improve data analysis pipeline for MWL measurements.
• Assist in modelling and calibration of instrumental effects (amplitude-to-phase conversion, temperature variations, Doppler rate).
• Support analysis to compare space-based and ground-based clocks and contribute to time transfer studies.
• Contribute to scientific investigations in general relativity, clock comparisons, and differential geopotential measurements.
