Job summary

ESA (European Space Agency) invites university students to join the Wave Interaction and Propagation Section at ESTEC, Noordwijk, Netherlands, for an internship focused onFORUM performance assessment. You will contribute to instrument data processing, end-to-end simulation and calibration prototype work.

The role requires a Master’s student in the final or penultimate year, with knowledge of Python and Matlab (C++ a plus), and the ability to be enrolled for the full duration of the internship.

Qualifications

• You must be a university student in your final or second-to-last year of a Master’s degree.
• You must be enrolled at your university for the entire duration of the internship.
• Knowledge of Python and Matlab is expected; C++ is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Ingest the outcome of on-ground characterisation tests of the instrument as parametrisation of the FORUM end-to-end simulator to assess mission performance.
• Use the FORUM end-to-end simulator to generate reference datasets for Level 2 geophysical retrievals and for operational ground segment development.
• Contribute to prototyping calibration algorithms for FORUM.
