Job summary

MSF Netherlands is seeking an Accounting Officer (40 h/w) based in Amsterdam to manage day-to-day financial operations, including payable/receivable, reconciliations, and month-end closing. You will liaise with suppliers and MSF sections on invoices and payments, while supporting international transfers and maintaining controls.

The role requires at least three years in finance, experience with ERP systems (Dynamics 365), strong Excel skills, and fluency in Dutch and English.

Qualifications

  • Three years of working experience in finance, accounting, bookkeeping, administration, or related field.

Responsibilities

As of 15 November 2026, our Finance department is looking for a Accounting Officer (40 h/w) based in Amsterdam. The core activity of the Finance Department is to safeguard the financial resources of MSF on behalf of the people we serve and to advise senior management on financial planning and performance. OCA Finance is part of the Resources group of departments, represented by staff in our field projects and coordination offices around the world, as well as our partner sections and our operational centre Amsterdam with 27 staff members.

Are you a finance professional who enjoys working with accuracy, taking ownership, and improving the way things are done? As an Accounting Officer at MSF Netherlands, you will play an important role in keeping our day-to-day financial operations running smoothly and efficiently.

Responsibilities
  • In this hands‑on position, you will work across a wide range of accounting activities, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, reconciliations, month‑end closing, reporting, and financial administration.
  • You will also be a key point of contact for suppliers, MSF sections, and staff on invoices, payments, and finance‑related queries.
  • Beyond daily operations, you will contribute to stronger financial controls, support complex international bank transfers, and help improve processes in a dynamic international environment.
  • Daily responsibilities include processes such as general accounting transactions, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash and bank, payments and contributing to a timely and accurate period close.
  • Provide administrative and finance/technical support to all levels of staff involved in domestic and international payments, orders, bank transfers, and cash and expenses disbursement/reimbursement.
  • Be in contact with the banks regarding complex international bank transfers and compliance of these transfers with international laws and regulations.
  • Monitor, advise on, and safeguard compliance of the chart of accounts and agreed procedures.
  • Flag and advise on procedures and propose solutions to ensure that processes and activities are maintained and updated for ongoing changes.
Candidate profile

  • You have experience working with Dynamics 365 or another ERP system, and possess good Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Good accounting knowledge on a middle educational level (MBO+ or HBO).
  • At least three years’ working experience in finance, accounting, bookkeeping, administration, or related field.
  • Working knowledge with Office 365/Dynamics is preferred.
  • Enjoying hands‑on administrative work.
  • Able to work independently and being a problem solver.
  • Preferably fluency in written and spoken Dutch.

To foster a healthy work‑life balance we have a remote working policy where you can work 40% of your weekly hours from home, 60% working in person in the office.

The gross monthly salary between € 3,394 and € 4,672 euro depending on relevant work experience, based on a fulltime appointment.

We offer a Dutch employment contract, based on 40 hours per week. The contract is for one year with renewal option (subject to satisfactory performance).

This role is offered on a Dutch employment contract (40 hours/week), with a preferred start date of 15 November 2026.
