Job summary

EMEA Recruitment is assisting a growing pharmaceutical company in Amsterdam in their search for an Accounting Associate Director. This role leads international accounting and reporting under US GAAP, guiding the Order-to-Cash and revenue processes and driving finance projects as the business scales.

You will partner with senior leadership and cross-functional teams, oversee month-end close and controls, support SOX compliance, and coach the accounting function to enable high-quality reporting in

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; US CPA strongly preferred/required.
  • 10+ years of accounting experience, including leadership.
  • Big 4 and in-house experience combined.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and accounting/reporting processes.
  • Ambitious, proactive, and comfortable operating in a fast-moving environment.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience with process improvement, controls, and cross-functional projects.
  • Excellent English, both written and spoken.
  • Experience with SAP and advanced Excel is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee international accounting and reporting activities, ensuring accurate and timely reporting under US GAAP.
  • Support and improve the Order-to-Cash and revenue accounting processes.
  • Lead accounting and finance projects and drive process improvements as the business scales.
  • Partner with commercial, finance, and other business teams on accounting and reporting topics.
  • Oversee month-end close, reconciliations, controls, and audit activities.
  • Support SOX compliance and internal control requirements.
  • Provide guidance and coaching to team members and contribute to the development of the wider accounting function.
  • Work closely with senior management and external partners on key accounting and reporting matters.

They are looking for a driven accounting leader who enjoys working in a fast‑paced environment and can manage strategic topics with a willingness to roll up their sleeves and work in the details.

You will work closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams, taking ownership of accounting processes, reporting, controls, and improvement projects.

Key Responsibilities of the Accounting Associate Director:
  • Lead and oversee international accounting and reporting activities, ensuring accurate and timely reporting under US GAAP
