Job summary

Maersk in Rotterdam is seeking an Absenteeism Specialist to support sickness absence processes, long-term illness administration, and social security compliance within our People Operations team.

You will work with managers, People Partners, occupational health, payroll, and external vendors to ensure a smooth, compliant employee experience, managing records in We-Care and Workday. The role requires accurate data handling and proactive stakeholder coordination in a fast-changing environment.

Qualifications

• Up-to-date knowledge of Dutch social security system in relation to absenteeism.
• Experience in absenteeism management preferred.
• Dutch and English language skills in word and writing required.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Hands-on team player in a fast-changing environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage absenteeism records in We-Care, Workday, UWV and other systems.
• Assist managers with absence-related administration and reporting guidance.
• Monitor long-term sickness and coordinate with authorities and insurers.
• Coordinate communications and follow-up with stakeholders.
• Prepare monthly and periodic absence reports with confidential data handling.
• Process occupational health requests and follow-up actions.
• Coordinate with UWV, Nationale/Nederlanden and external partners.
• Adjust employee allowances and benefits during long-term absence and reintegration.

Are you detail-oriented, proactive, and passionate about supporting employees and managers through critical moments in the employee lifecycle? We are looking for an Absenteeism Specialist to join our People Operations team in Rotterdam.

In this role, you will be the expert supporting sickness absence processes, long-term illness administration, social security compliance, and stakeholder coordination. You will work closely with managers, People Partners, occupational health providers, payroll, finance, and external vendors to ensure a smooth and compliant employee experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain absenteeism records in We-Care, Workday, UWV and other relevant systems.
• Support managers with absence-related administration and provide guidance on reporting sickness and recovery. Work closely with people partners and external absenteeism vendor to stay updated on sickness cases.
• Monitor long-term sickness cases and ensure timely registrations, notifications and deregistrations with external authorities and insurers.
• Coordinate absenteeism-related communications and follow-up actions with internal and external stakeholders.
• Prepare monthly and periodic absence reports, ensuring accurate and confidential data handling.
• Process occupational health and intervention requests and support administrative follow-up.
• Manage correspondence and actions related to UWV, Nationale Nederlanden and other external partners.
• Coordinate employee allowance and benefit adjustments during long-term absence and reintegration.

• Hands-on team player with a people-oriented attitude who is able to work in a fast-changing environment
