Job summary

UCT in Malaysia seeks a Welding Engineer to lead welding qualification programs, review procedures, and ensure compliance with ASME, AWS, API standards for oil and gas projects. You will mentor welders and drive productivity improvements while upholding safety and quality.

The role requires a Diploma/Advanced Diploma/Degree in Welding Technology, CSWIP/AWS-CWI certification, and 5+ years of welding engineering experience, including 2+ years in GMAW & GTAW; proficiency in MS Office and SolidWorks

Qualifications

• Diploma/Advanced Diploma/Degree in Engineering Technology (Welding and Quality Inspection)
• Required weld certification to CSWIP or AWS-CWI
• Minimum 2 years welding experience in GMAW & GTAW; strong leadership skills
• Minimum 5+ years welding engineering experience in oil & gas contracts
• Experience with standards: ASTM, ASME IX, API, NACE

Responsibilities

• Prepare, manage, coordinate welding procedure qualification and welder qualification tests per project requirements
• Review supplier welding procedures, processes and documentation
• Ensure manufacturers comply with client requirements and international rules and standards
• Interpret welding drawings and NDT symbols; understand ASME Sec IX, AWS D1.1, ASME B31.3, DNV OS F101 requirements
• Mentor welders to achieve high-quality welds and identify defect locations
• Record welder qualifications and ensure code compliance; advise on productivity improvements
• Provide technical support and respond to client/vendor queries; perform gap analyses of welding standards
