Job summary

XP Power in Malaysia is seeking a PCB Process Technician to maintain wave soldering equipment, develop process docs, and support line troubleshooting to improve yields. You will follow IPC‑A‑610 standards, work with SAP, read electrical schematics, and ensure ESD‑safe conditions while contributing to new product validation and data collection for engineers.

The role requires 2–3 years of relevant experience, and a tertiary engineering qualification, with proficiency in English and Bahasa

Qualifications

  • Must hold a tertiary engineering qualification in Electrical/Electronics.
  • 2–3 years of experience as a test technician in electronics.
  • Experience testing power supplies and related products.
  • Ability to read schematics and work with diagnostic equipment.
  • Good communication in English and Bahasa Malaysia; SAP familiarity is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and maintain wave soldering equipment (e.g., ERSA, Electrovert).
  • Create and maintain process documentation including work instructions, solder profiles, and process parameters.
  • Troubleshoot issues such as solder bridges, cold joints, or poor wetting.
  • Assist with improvement projects and line troubleshooting to reduce downtime.
  • Monitor soldering parameters and support data collection for yield analysis.
  • Follow IPC-A-610 standards for inspection and quality control.
  • Maintain ESD-safe working conditions and manage component handling.

Job Description
  • Set up and maintain wave soldering equipment (e.g., ERSA, Electrovert).
  • Create and maintain process documentation including work instructions, solder profiles, and process parameters.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to solder bridges, cold solder joints, poor wetting or component damage.
  • Follow up with improvement projects as assigned by Engineer.
  • Monitor and adjust soldering parameters such as conveyor speed, preheat temperatures, flux quantity and solder pot settings.
  • The PCB Process Technician supports the daily operation.
  • Assist with line troubleshooting to reduce downtime and improve yields.
  • Support first article builds and process validation for new products.
  • Collect data on process performance and assist engineers with yield and defect analysis.
  • Follow IPC-A-610 standards for visual inspection and quality control.
  • Maintain ESD-safe working conditions and handle components appropriately.
Qualifications
  • Tertiary education in Electrical/Electronics Engineering.
  • Minimum 2 to 3 years of experience as a test technician in a similar electronics company.
  • Experience in electronics test, troubleshooting and repair.
  • Experience testing and diagnosing electronic products, power supplies and related products.
  • Ability to work from electrical schematics, change notices and use standard electronic diagnostic equipment.
  • Ability to make common mechanical connections associated with power supply testing.
  • Good communication skills with proficiency in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
  • Knowledge of Windows applications such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with SAP systems.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
