Job summary

Tentacle SSO SDN BHD is seeking a Virtualization Engineer to design, provision, migrate and hand over enterprise virtualization platforms. This onsite contract role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, disruption-free migrations in production-critical environments.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of hands-on virtualization experience, strong VMware expertise, and familiarity with migration lifecycles, security hardening and runbook creation.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on virtualization engineering experience.
• Strong VMware platforms expertise and migration lifecycle knowledge.
• Experience across discovery, assessment, cutover, stabilization and handover.
• Proficient in Windows/Linux, SAN/NAS, backups, DNS, firewalls, load balancers.
• Ability to produce runbooks, rollback plans and audit evidence.
• Regulatory or financial services exposure is a plus.
• Preferred: VCP or ITIL Foundation, or related certs (Microsoft, Linux, Azure, AWS).

Responsibilities

• Assess virtualization platforms, hosts, clusters, VMs, dependencies and readiness.
• Prepare runbooks, cutover plans, validation checklists and rollback procedures.
• Provision and configure virtualization platforms per architecture and security standards.
• Support migrations using VMware HCX, Zerto, Azure Migrate, Ansible and Python.
• Participate in migration rehearsals, go/no-go reviews, and hypercare.
• Troubleshoot virtualization, compute, storage, network and performance issues.
• Deliver knowledge transfer and handover to operations teams.

The Role

As a Virtualization Engineer / SME, you will support the design, provisioning, migration, validation and operational handover of enterprise virtualization platforms within a large application migration programmer in the technology sector. You will work closely with application, server, storage, backup, network, security, testing and project teams to deliver secure, disruption-free migrations. This is an onsite contract role for someone who thrives in high-stakes, production-critical environments.

What You'll Do

• Assess virtualization platforms, hosts, clusters, VMs, dependencies, capacity and migration readiness
• Prepare build documents, migration runbooks, cutover plans, validation checklists and rollback procedures
• Provision and configure virtualization platforms in line with approved architecture, security and capacity standards
• Support VMware and cross-hypervisor migrations using tools such as VMware HCX, Zerto, Azure Migrate, Ansible and Python
• Take part in migration rehearsals, cutovers, command-centre activities, go/no-go reviews, rollback and hypercare
• Troubleshoot virtualization, compute, storage, network, replication, clustering and performance issues
• Apply security hardening, maintain migration evidence and deliver knowledge-transfer and handover to operational support teams

What We're Looking For

• More than 5 years of hands-on experience in virtualization engineering, administration, migration or infrastructure support
• Strong experience with VMware platforms, hosts, clusters, VMs, networking, storage, high availability and disaster recovery
• Experience across the migration lifecycle, from discovery and assessment through to cutover, stabilization and handover
• Working knowledge of Windows/Linux, SAN/NAS storage, backup, replication, DNS, firewalls, load balancing and monitoring
• Experience producing runbooks, rollback plans, validation reports and audit evidence
• Strong troubleshooting, stakeholder coordination and risk awareness; banking, financial-services or other regulated-environment experience is preferred
• Preferred: VMware Certified Professional or equivalent, ITIL Foundation, or relevant Microsoft, Linux, Azure, AWS, networking, storage, backup or security certification
