AmBank Group in Malaysia seeks a senior Oracle DBA to be the technical authority for Oracle database platforms, owning clustered and distributed architectures, ensuring near-zero downtime through advanced RAC, Data Guard and replication techniques.
You will lead upgrades and migrations, automate routine tasks with Shell, Python and Ansible, and collaborate with infrastructure and application teams on critical deployments.
Serve as the technical authority for Oracle database platforms, responsible for architecting, engineering and sustaining highly available, high performance, and secure Oracle environments support mission-critical systems. The role requires deep ownership of clustered and distributed database architectures, ensuring zero/near zero downtime operations through advanced configuration of Oracle RAC, Data Guard and replication technologies. The SME is expected to operate autonomously in complex production environments, lead major database lifecycle initiatives (upgrades, migration, re-platforming), and demonstrate good problem-solving skills & knowledge.
Implement and manage Oracle RAC (multi-node) architecture, including interconnect tuning, cache optimization and cluster stability and Data Guard architecture.
Architect Data Guard solutions (physical, logical, active DG), including failover/switchover strategies and DR drills
Define high availability and disaster recovery strategies aligned with RTO/RPO requirements.
Lead complex database upgrades (e.g 11g/12c -> 19c/21c/23c) with minimal downtime using tools like RMAN, Data Pump, Goldengate
Execute cross platform migrations (Unix to Linux, to on-prem cloud) & perform database consolidation and re-platforming initiatives
Act as L3/L4 escalation point for critical incidents and perform advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis (RCA) for production incidents
Automate routine DBA tasks using scripting (Shell, Python, Ansible)
Work closely with infrastructure and application teams on critical deployments.
Provide Technical consultation services to IT teams with regards to design, architecture and operations of new and existing database systems.
A recognized bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems Engineering or related subjects
Professional Certifications (OCP, OCM)
Minimum 8 to 12 years in Oracle database administration and minimum 5+ years hands on with RAC and Data Guard
Proven experience in large scale production environments, database upgrades and migrations
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skill with ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all levels
High ethical standards and integrity, with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
Thorough working knowledge of the different versions of Oracle on UNIX or Linux operating systems.
Experience with deploying database security patches and remediation of database vulnerabilities.
Experience with performing backup and recovery with database utilities and backup tools (NetBackup)
