Taylor's University invites a counsellor to support its counselling services for students facing emotional and psychological challenges. You will work with the CCS team to promote personal development and academic progress, reporting to the CCS Manager.

You will deliver individual and group counselling, participate in workshop delivery, and contribute to the development of mental health services across the campus.

Qualifikationen

• Master's degree in counselling/guidance or counselling psychology with accreditation.
• Accredited membership of a recognized professional body (eg, Lembaga Kaunselor).
• Minimum 2 years of counselling experience in an educational setting.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with campus-wide stakeholders.

• Deliver individual and group counselling sessions to students.

• Assist in crisis investigations and emergency assessments.
• Plan and implement CCS activities and workshops.
• Be able to work beyond office hours when required.

To take an active role in supporting the activities of the counselling service, which supports students with a range of emotional and psychological difficulties. In addition to promoting personal development and academic progress, the Counselling will work to help sustain students in continuing with their studies.

The counsellor will work closely with other colleagues that make up the counselling team staff. The Counsellor will report to the Manager, Centre for Counselling Services (CCS).

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES

• To deliver hands-on student counselling through individual and group sessions
• To contribute and support the development of the counselling, special needs and mental health services in line with the department's current policies and procedures
• To undertake psychological assessments for students who have special needs, mental health problems etc
• Provide a safe and professional service in accordance with Lembaga Kaunselor's code of ethics
• To coordinate the administrative tasks of the Centre - client assignment and management of general enquiries
• To contribute in mental health awareness-related activities and promotion for students and the campus community at large
• To participate and represent CCS in student consultative meetings, partnership meetings with other stakeholders as and when required
• To assist with primary investigations and assessments during mental health crisis, medical emergencies etc
• To support and participate in the planning and implementation of activities and events organized by CCS
• To deliver and facilitate workshops and talks on specific topic areas
• To be able to work beyond office hours when required.
• Any other responsibilities that may be assigned to you from time to time

JOB SPECIFICATIONS MINIMUM ACADEMIC/PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATION

Preferably possess a Master's degree in counselling/guidance or counselling psychology

and accredited membership of a recognized professional body, eg, Lembaga Kaunselor

RELATED EXPERIENCE

• At least 2 years of related working experience in a counselling role
• Experience of individual counselling, preferably from within a higher education institution
• Good interpersonal and communication skills with ability to relate with others from the wider campus community
• Adhere to confidentiality, sensitivity and discretion when handling student problems.
• Adhere to the counsellor's professional code of ethics (Lembaga Kaunselor)
• Good grasp of counselling skills, i.e listening, attending, client change etc.
• Excellent communication skills: Oral and written
• Conversant with the following software: Word, Excel, PowerPoint
