University of Cyberjaya is seeking a dedicated Counselor to join the Student Experience and Support Department. You will provide professional counselling to support mental wellbeing, personal development, and academic success.

The role involves crisis intervention, developing wellbeing programmes, collaborating with academic staff, maintaining confidential records, and guiding students through personal and academic challenges to build resilience.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Counseling or a related field (e.g., Psychology, Guidance and Counseling).
• Registered Counselor with LKM and a valid Practising Certificate.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant counselling experience, preferably in higher education.
• Strong understanding of counselling theories, mental health interventions, and student development practices.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, counselling, and facilitation skills.

Responsabilités

• Provide professional individual and group counselling to students facing personal, emotional, social, academic, or psychological challenges.
• Conduct student assessments, develop intervention plans, and monitor progress.
• Provide crisis intervention and risk assessment, including referrals to external specialists or healthcare providers when necessary.
• Maintain accurate and confidential counselling records in line with professional ethics and university policies.
• Support students in managing stress, anxiety, adjustment issues, relationships, academic pressures, and personal development.
• Develop and conduct mental health awareness programmes, workshops, campaigns, and wellbeing initiatives.

We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Counselor to join our Student Experience and Support Department.

In this role, you will support the mental wellbeing, personal development, and academic success of our students through professional counselling services, mental health interventions, wellbeing programmes, and student development initiatives. You will play an important role in helping students navigate personal, emotional, social, and academic challenges while building resilience, confidence, and self-awareness.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide professional individual and group counselling to students facing personal, emotional, social, academic, or psychological challenges.
• Conduct student assessments, develop appropriate intervention plans, and monitor progress.
• Provide crisis intervention and risk assessment, including referrals to external specialists or healthcare providers when necessary.
• Maintain accurate and confidential counselling records in accordance with professional ethics and University policies.
• Support students in managing stress, anxiety, adjustment issues, relationship concerns, academic pressures, and personal development challenges.
• Develop and conduct mental health awareness programmes, workshops, campaigns, and wellbeing initiatives.
• Promote resilience, emotional intelligence, self-care, mindfulness, and positive coping strategies among students.
• Facilitate student development programmes that strengthen leadership, self-awareness, interpersonal skills, and decision-making.
• Collaborate with academic staff, faculties, student support services, parents/guardians where appropriate, and external agencies to support student wellbeing.
• Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions and provide guidance to staff on student wellbeing matters.
• Prepare relevant reports, counselling documentation, and statistics.
• Ensure compliance with professional counselling standards, ethical guidelines, and relevant regulations.

Requirements

• Master's Degree in Counseling, Psychology, Guidance and Counseling, or a related field.
• Registered Counselor with Lembaga Kaunselor Malaysia (LKM) with a valid Practising Certificate.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant counselling experience, preferably within a higher education environment.
• Strong understanding of counselling theories, mental health interventions, and student development practices.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, counselling, and facilitation skills.

Added Advantage

• Experience working in higher education, youth counselling, or mental health settings.
• Experience developing and facilitating wellbeing programmes or workshops.
• Familiarity with crisis intervention and case management.
