About the role
Perform engineering detailed design on current on‑shore/off‑shore projects, fulfill departmental needs, and support engineering operations within the company.
Main Accountabilities
- Design Basis, Code & Standard
- Understanding and applying knowledge of design codes, industry standards, and practices such as API/ISO/ASME.
- Interpretation of requirements to meet project needs.
- Problem resolution and troubleshooting based on codes & standards.
- Understanding code limitations and applying them accurately.
- In‑depth understanding of client specifications (PTS, DEP, etc.) and provision of services that meet contract requirements.
- Reviewing and clarifying ITB/Client documents and contractual documents in case of ambiguity.
- Knowledge of Static Equipment
- In‑depth understanding of rotating equipment used in oil & gas, refinery, and industrial applications.
- Engineering competence in hydraulics, thermodynamics, aerodynamics, rotor‑dynamics, combustion, etc.
- Predict rotating equipment performance without over‑dependence on vendor.
- Review vendor options and provide detailed technical evaluation (TBE/TBT).
- Review in‑house and vendor P&IDs and identify interfaces.
- Participate in vendor FAT/shop testing, review test reports, and provide comments.
- Resolve issues related to equipment testing during shop testing.
- Respond to Site Technical Queries regarding equipment engineering design, installation, and mechanical completion.
- Explore cost‑saving options and energy‑efficient measures during execution or proposal.
- Actively participate in HAZOP and close out action points.
- Material Selection
- Understanding of material types for different services (Wet CO₂, sour, low‑temperature, toxic, etc.) and vendor proposals.
- Knowledge of material grades based on process input, material selection reports, and corrosion studies.
- Provide feedback if the selected material is questionable.
- Working Deliverables
- Effective preparation of calculation spreadsheets, technical data sheets, job specifications, equipment specifications, material requisitions, technical clarifications, and technical bid evaluations.
- Equipment selection study reports, layout and utility input, weight data, foundation loading input, interface details, and compressor aero/thermodynamics studies.
- Vendor data review to meet codes, standards, regulations, project and discipline requirements.
- Interface with other disciplines (piping, process, civil, electrical, structural, instrumentation).
- Fabrication Knowledge
- Understand fabrication process, critical elements, and critical path influences on delivery.
- Anticipate effectively to improve vendor delivery schedule.
- Lead Engineer Role
- Provide total commitment, monitor progress, and execute with appropriate resources.
- Coordinate and plan resources for project execution.
- Technical Audits
- Carry out technical audits at the department manager’s request (for senior engineers with >10 years experience).
- Investigate and resolve quality complaints or incidents.
- Other Responsibilities
- Professional judgment, responsiveness, and pro‑activity in static equipment deliverables.
- Deliver quality engineering services that meet JV/Client expectations.
- Fulfill QA/HSE aspects with acceptable teamwork.
- Supervise, coach, and guide junior engineers.
About you
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering (B.E. Hons). Minimum 7 years of engineering design experience in static equipment for on‑shore/off‑shore applications, preferably in Green Hydrogen, Electrolyzer, and Carbon Capture Storage Projects.
- Willing to travel and be stationed at various engineering operating centers or client offices on an as‑needed basis (including overseas assignment).
- Site or fabrication experience (1–2 years).
- Good relationship with clients, peers, vendors, and suppliers; positive professional references.
