Technip Energies in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a Senior Instrument Engineer to join our team. You will review client documents, develop instrumentation deliverables, and ensure compliance with codes and standards for onshore and offshore projects in the energy sector.

You should hold a Bachelors in Instrumentation and Control/Electronic Engineering and have at least 10 years of IC design experience; lead candidates require 15+ years. PE registration is preferred and willingness to travel.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Instrumentation and Control/Electronic Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Senior role requires 10+ years of IC engineering design experience onshore/offshore.
  • Lead role requires 15+ years of postgraduate IC design experience offshore/onshore.
  • PE registration with local board or approved equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Review client documents and produce instrumentation deliverables per project schedules.
  • Define instrumentation specifications with package requisitioner and evaluate supplier offers (PLC, cabling, instruments).
  • Perform instrument sizing and selection; support site and FAT processes.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines and conduct vendor/client meetings.

About the mission we offer you
  • Review Client's technical documentation and requirements
  • Produce the instrumentation and control deliverables as per the project requirement and schedules in cost effective manner.
  • Develop the instrumentation specifications applicable to the packages in coordination with the packaged equipment requisitioner. Participate in the definition of supply and service limits as well as the necessary documentation related to instrumentation for integration into the orders of package units and technically evaluate the instrumentation part of supplier offers (PLC, cabling, instruments, etc.)
  • Perform thorough study and gather information for all the relevant systems defined in the design and ensure adequate information are being incorporated in the design deliverables.
  • Support to detail engineering activities (hookup installation, layouts, routings, wirings, etc)
  • Monitor and ensure that any drawings designed by designer and generated by the drafters is properly established to reflect all required design details and to good engineering practices.
  • Perform required in-house Instrument sizing and selection as well as managing studies performed by 3rd party subcontractor/vendor.
  • Prepare, update and check specifications and calculations for detailed engineering.
  • Perform technical clarification and technical bid analysis/evaluation on the bid proposal received.
  • Review and approve Vendor’s document deliverables.
  • Attend meetings and participate in Client or Vendor meetings.
  • Possesses good technical knowhow and well verse with Design Codes and Standards (e.g. ANSI, API, ASME, ASTM, IEC, IOGP, ISA, ISO, etc).
  • Carry out onshore and offshore site visits as required.
  • Prepare site survey check lists and reports and other reports as required.
  • Interfaces with other engineering disciplines and project support functions such as procurement and planning.
  • Performs Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) as required.
  • Perform assistance to site and involve in site works to Construction Team and manage System Vendor/Integrator and field instrument vendors work execution during EPC project.
Main Accountabilities
  • Ensuring good quality design outputs, as per the relevant procedures including Client’s requirement as well as international codes and standards.
  • Remain accountable and assume responsibility to all works and activities done.
  • Ensures timely approval of engineering and requisitioning documents from the client as well as timely technical and economical definition of change orders and claims.
  • Prepares updates and checks specifications and calculations for detailed engineering.
  • Contributes to optimization of material quantities by proposing value engineering solutions.
  • Ensures contractual technical specifications are met by the Vendors
  • Adheres to the committed man/hours and budget.
  • Ensures timely internal and external reporting on engineering activities to the Lead.
  • Meets quality objectives of the project.
  • Interfaces with other disciplines and project support functions such as procurement and planning.
  • Provides guidance and mentoring to more junior engineering employees
About you
  • The Candidate shall possess a Bachelors Degree in Instrumentation and Control/Electronic Engineering accredited by Board of Engineer Malaysia or approved equivalent.
  • For Senior engineer, Possess at least minimum 10 years of Instrumentation and Control engineering design experiences in onshore / offshore application.
  • For Lead Engineer, Possess at least minimum 15 years of post graduate experience in the similar Instrumentation and Control engineering design experiences for onshore / offshore application.
  • Preferably registered Professional Engineer (PE) with local board or approved equivalent
Nice to have
  • Be willing to travel and stationed at various Engineering Operating Centers / Client Office on needs basis (for overseas assignment)
  • Site or experience with OEM (1 to 2 years)
  • Exhibit and maintain good relationship with Client / Peers / Equipment Vendor & suppliers.
  • Good Professional Check (feedback) from past Employers / Clients.
