Job summary

Arup in Malaysia is seeking a Transport Team Leader to lead and grow a high-performing transportation team, delivering innovative infrastructure solutions across rail, highways, aviation, and maritime sectors.

You will drive business growth, strengthen client relationships, and ensure the successful delivery of complex multidisciplinary projects while aligning with company strategy and sustainable practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering with PEPC registration in Malaysia or Chartered status advantageous.
• Extensive experience delivering major transportation projects across rail, highways, aviation, and maritime sectors.
• Proven success in business development, winning major projects and growing client relationships.
• Demonstrated leadership of multidisciplinary teams, planning resources and budgets.

• Lead, manage and develop the Transport team in Malaysia, ensuring technical and commercial success.
• Drive business development by securing opportunities and major contracts with public and private clients.
• Oversee delivery of complex transport infrastructure across rail, highways, aviation, and maritime sectors.
• Provide strategic and technical direction as Project Director/Manager/Design Manager/Reviewer where applicable.
• Mentor and recruit multidisciplinary teams while ensuring HSEQ compliance and risk management.

The Opportunity

• Lead, manage, and develop the Transport team in Malaysia, ensuring strong technical performance, commercial success, and alignment with business objectives.
• Drive business development activities by securing new opportunities, negotiating major contracts, and building long-term relationships with key public and private sector clients.
• Oversee the delivery of complex transportation infrastructure projects across rail, highways, aviation, and maritime sectors, ensuring quality, budget, programme, and client requirements are achieved.
• Act in leadership roles such as Project Director, Project Manager, Design Manager, Reviewer, or Submitting Person/Qualified Person (where applicable), providing strategic and technical direction throughout project lifecycles.
• Mentor, recruit, and develop a multidisciplinary team while fostering collaboration across regional and global teams, ensuring compliance with HSEQ requirements and effective risk management practices.

Is this role right for you?

• A recognised Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering or a related discipline, with PEPC registration in Malaysia and/or Chartered status considered highly advantageous.
• Extensive experience delivering major transportation and infrastructure projects, with a strong track record across rail, highways, aviation, and/or maritime sectors.
• Proven success in business development, winning major projects, managing key client relationships, and delivering sustainable commercial growth.
• Demonstrated leadership experience managing multidisciplinary teams and complex projects, including planning resources, managing budgets, and achieving successful project outcomes.
• Strong commercial acumen, strategic thinking, communication, and stakeholder management skills, supported by an established network within Malaysia's transportation and infrastructure market.
