Job summary

BP plc in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a Structured Trade Finance Lead to join the Finance Business & Technology team. Based in Malaysia, you will advise on trade finance solutions, structure LCs, and manage LC/SBLC lifecycle, with a focus on risk mitigation, working capital optimization, and strong controls across systems.

Qualifications

• 7-10 years of experience in trade finance, collections, credit risk management, or related disciplines.
• Strong knowledge of international trade rules and practices, including UCP 600 and ISP98.
• Proven experience in trade finance or operation roles within multinational corporations or international financial institutions.

Responsibilities

• Advise on and structure trade finance solutions, including Letters of Credit (LCs), to support risk mitigation and working capital objectives.
• Manage lifecycle of trade finance instruments, including amendments, extensions, and renewals.
• Prepare, review, and submit trade finance applications ensuring accuracy and internal controls.
• Oversee administration and settlement of trade finance claims under LCs with timely payment and data accuracy.
• Manage relationships with banks and counterparties, supporting receivables discounting and financing arrangements.
• Maintain accurate trade finance and credit data, onboarding counterparties and updating credit terms.
• Collaborate with settlements, credit and regional teams to reflect credit exposures and risks.
• Monitor credit portfolio exposures and recommend risk mitigations and limits.
• Ensure data integrity across systems and support regulatory compliance.
