Job summary

The Uganda High Commission in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a Trade Promotion and Business Support Assistant to assist Ugandan companies exporting to Malaysia and accredited countries. You will collect market info, identify trade opportunities, and respond to trade inquiries.

You will coordinate events and missions, liaise with local businesses, translate and prepare documentation, and support the commercial section with records, accounting, and reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business, Economics, Marketing or a related field.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Knowledge of international trade, investment, ASEAN trade laws, with emphasis on Africa.
• Proficiency in social media platforms (LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook) and IT skills.
• Knowledge of English language; additional ASEAN languages an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Trade Promotion and Business Support: assist Ugandan companies exporting to Malaysia and accredited countries, collect market info, identify trade opportunities, respond to inquiries.
• Research and Reporting: undertake research and prepare reports on market trends, trade laws and policy impacts.
• Assist with Event and Mission Coordination: organize logistics for trade events, seminars and missions.
• Liaison and Communication: act as a point of contact with local businesses, chambers, and host government officials.
• Provide Documentation and Translation: manage correspondence and translation of documents and articles.
• Offer Administrative Support: support the commercial section with records, databases and accounting tasks.
• Advocacy Support: advise and support home-country businesses on major projects or sales in Malaysia and accredited countries.
