Job summary

Sanmina in Penang, Malaysia is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Technician to promptly diagnose and repair downtime across production and test equipment, and to perform precise setup, calibration and changeovers to keep lines running.

You will dismantle, repair and reassemble machinery, run electrical tests, and implement post-repair modifications under engineering direction, while contributing to Lean Six Sigma initiatives and safety compliance.

Qualifications

• Professional certificate or diploma in Electrical, Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent.
• 1–2 years hands-on experience in high-volume manufacturing, preferably with battery maintenance/assembly exposure.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, schematics and blueprints.
• Strong safety awareness and good communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Downtime Response & Repair: diagnose and resolve downtime across production/test equipment.
• Equipment Setup & Changeovers: perform setups, calibrations and changeovers for continuous lines.
• Technical Maintenance: dismantle, repair and reassemble machinery per manuals and schematics.
• Testing & Modifications: conduct electrical testing and post-repair checks; implement authorized modifications.

• Equipment Setup & Changeovers: Execute precise equipment setups, calibrations, and changeover activities to ensure total hardware readiness for continuous production lines.
• Technical Maintenance: Dismantle, adjust, repair, and reassemble highly specialized manufacturing machinery according to blueprint layouts, operating manuals, and engineering schematics.
• Testing & Modifications: Use technical diagnostic and electrical testing tools to complete post-repair checkouts and perform authorized equipment modifications under the direction of manufacturing and test engineers.
• Continuous Improvement: Actively participate in both technical optimization tasks and non-technical structural initiatives, including contributing to Lean Six Sigma projects to reduce waste and maximize line efficiency.

Qualifications & Experience Required

• Education: Minimum of a Professional Certificate or Diploma in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics Engineering, or an equivalent technical field.
• Experience: 1 to 2 years of hands‑on experience in a high‑volume manufacturing environment, preferably with specific exposure to battery maintenance or assembly processes.
• Technical Experience would be added advantage: Direct experience in the setup, calibration, and repair of the following production equipment is highly desired:
• Resistance Welders & Ultrasonic Welders
• Electrical Testing Equipment
• Auto‑soldering Stations
• UV Glue Dispensing and Curing Systems

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

• Technical Troubleshooting: Demonstrated competency diagnosing hardware and control system failures across mechanical, electrical, and software domains.
• Technical Literacy: Proficient in reading, interpreting, and applying engineering drawings, electrical schematics, component layouts, and blueprints.
