Job summary

ULTRA CLEAN TECHNOLOGY (MALAYSIA) Sdn. Bhd. is seeking a skilled Technician to perform orbital welding in our Penang fabrication environment.

You will weld stainless steel and alloy piping systems for semiconductor-related applications, following strict procedures and safety standards. The role requires 2–5 years of TIG/GTAW orbital welding experience, ability to read drawings, and a strong commitment to quality.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of orbital welding/TIG welding experience.
• Experience in semiconductor, pharmaceutical, or high-purity piping is preferred.
• Ability to read technical drawings and welding procedures.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate and maintain orbital welding equipment.
• Perform orbital GTAW/TIG welding on tubes and pipes per WPS and drawings.
• Verify weld quality via visual and dimensional checks.
• Interpret P&IDs, drawings, and isometrics.
• Maintain welding records and QA/QC documentation.

Job Summary

The Orbital Welder is responsible for performing high-quality orbital welding on stainless steel and alloy piping systems used in industries such as semiconductor, pharmaceutical, food & beverage, oil & gas, and power generation. The role requires strict adherence to welding procedures, quality standards, and safety regulations to ensure defect-free welds.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and maintain orbital welding equipment.
• Perform orbital GTAW/TIG welding on tubes and pipes according to approved WPS and drawings.
• Prepare materials, fittings, and weld joints before welding.
• Verify weld quality through visual inspection and dimensional checks.
• Monitor welding parameters and make necessary adjustments to achieve required weld quality.
• Interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, and isometric drawings.
• Conduct equipment calibration and routine maintenance.
• Complete welding records, inspection reports, and documentation.
• Comply with company safety policies and applicable industry standards.
• Work closely with QA/QC personnel to ensure fabrication meets customer specifications.

Requirements

Education

• Certificate, Diploma, or equivalent qualification in Welding Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.

Experience

• 2 to 5 years of experience in orbital welding and TIG/GTAW welding.
• Experience in semiconductor, pharmaceutical, food processing, or high-purity piping systems is preferred.
• Proficiency in operating orbital welding machines.
• Knowledge of ASME, AWS, and relevant welding standards.
• Ability to read technical drawings and welding procedures.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.

Certifications (Preferred)

• Orbital Welding Certification from equipment manufacturer or accredited training provider.

Working Conditions

• Work in fabrication workshops, manufacturing facilities, or customer sites.
• May require overtime, shift work, or travel to project locations.
• Must be able to lift materials and work in confined spaces when required.

• Productivity and project completion timelines.
