Job summary

ONNEC Group in Malaysia seeks a Technical Manager - Cutsheets to govern technical documentation across data centre projects. You will ensure cutsheets meet design specs, client requirements and industry standards, acting as a bridge between Design, Procurement and Project Delivery.

The role requires sharp attention to detail, strong document control, and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders. Experience in data centres, structured cabling or MEP environments and familiarity with platforms

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a technical, design or engineering role within data centres, structured cabling, construction or MEP environments.
  • Experience reviewing technical documentation, specifications and submittals, including product data sheets, cutsheets, Bills of Materials and engineering drawings.
  • Strong understanding of structured cabling systems, including copper and fibre, data centre infrastructure components, installation and design standards.
  • Ability to interpret technical specifications, performance data and compliance requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy; excellent document control and organisational skills; ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines; strong stakeholder management and communication skills; problem-solving and analytical capability.
  • Experience using document management systems and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and SharePoint.
  • Familiarity with engineering documentation platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Review and validate cutsheets against project design specifications, client requirements and standards, and regulatory and industry compliance requirements.
  • Own the preparation and quality of technical submittal packages.
  • Work closely with Design and Engineering teams to validate design intent, Procurement teams to ensure correct product ordering, and Project Delivery teams to support installation and resolve issues.
  • Develop and maintain cutsheet templates and document standards, naming conventions, filing structures and best practice guidance for project teams.
  • Liaise with manufacturers and suppliers to obtain up-to-date cutsheets and technical documentation, clarify specifications and resolve discrepancies.
  • Identify and mitigate risks relating to incorrect product selection, non-compliance with specifications and delays in client approvals.
  • Engage with clients, consultants and third-party stakeholders as required and present cutsheet documentation when necessary.

The Technical Manager - Cutsheets is responsible for the governance, accuracy and approval of all product specification documentation, known as cutsheets, used across projects.

The role ensures that all materials, equipment and systems selected for deployment meet technical design requirements, client specifications and industry standards.

The postholder will act as a critical control point between Design, Procurement and Project Delivery, ensuring approved product information is technically accurate, compliant and aligned to project requirements.

The successful candidate will have proven experience in a technical, design or engineering environment, with strong attention to detail, excellent document control skills and the ability to manage multiple stakeholder requirements across data centre and structured cabling projects.

What you’ll be doing as our Technical Manager - Cutsheets:
Technical Assurance & Compliance
  • Review and validate cutsheets against project design specifications, client requirements and standards, and regulatory and industry compliance requirements. Ensure all products meet performance, capacity and installation criteria prior to approval, and provide technical sign-off for product selection where required.
Submittals & Documentation Management
  • Own the preparation and quality of technical submittal packages. Ensure all cutsheets are accurate, complete, version controlled, traceable and submitted in line with project timelines. Act as the central point of contact for all cutsheet-related queries.
Cross-Functional Coordination
  • Work closely with Design and Engineering teams to validate design intent, Procurement teams to ensure correct product ordering, and Project Delivery teams to support installation and resolve issues. Ensure alignment between approved cutsheets, Bills of Materials and installed solutions.
Standardisation & Process Improvement
  • Develop and maintain cutsheet templates and document standards, naming conventions, filing structures and best practice guidance for project teams. Drive consistency across all regions and projects.
Vendor & Product Management
  • Liaise with manufacturers and suppliers to obtain up-to-date cutsheets and technical documentation, clarify specifications and resolve discrepancies. Support the evaluation of alternative products and value engineering options.
Risk Management & Quality Control
  • Identify and mitigate risks relating to incorrect product selection, non-compliance with specifications and delays in client approvals. Support issue resolution where installed products deviate from approved cutsheets.
Stakeholder & Client Interface
  • Engage with clients, consultants and third-party stakeholders as required. Support technical reviews, audits and approvals, and present cutsheet documentation where necessary.
What we’re looking for in our Technical Manager - Cutsheets:
Essential
  • Proven experience in a technical, design or engineering role within data centres, structured cabling, construction or MEP environments.
  • Experience reviewing technical documentation, specifications and submittals, including product data sheets, cutsheets, Bills of Materials and engineering drawings.
  • Strong understanding of structured cabling systems, including copper and fibre, data centre infrastructure components, installation and design standards.
  • Ability to interpret technical specifications, performance data and compliance requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy; excellent document control and organisational skills; ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines; strong stakeholder management and communication skills; problem-solving and analytical capability.

Desirable
  • Experience working on hyperscale or enterprise data centre projects
  • Experience managing or leading a technical or documentation team
  • Exposure to client-specific standards, such as financial institutions or hyperscalers;
  • Degree or equivalent in Engineering or a relevant technical discipline
  • Knowledge of industry standards such as ISO, TIA or BICSI
  • Knowledge of structured cabling manufacturers such as CommScope, Panduit or Leviton
  • Understanding of submittal and approval processes within construction projects
  • Experience with AutoCAD or similar drawing/design tools and project or document control platforms such as Aconex, Procore or BIM tools.
