Job summary

Samurai 2K Aerosol Malaysia seeks a chemist to lead hands-on R&D activities, run lab tests, and pilot scale trials to support innovative aerosol systems.

You will work on product development, quality improvements, and cost-down initiatives while coordinating with purchasing and suppliers; a Bachelor’s in Chemistry or related field is required and 3-4 years in paint/coatings is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or in any related field.
• Minimum 3 - 4 years of working experience in chemical industry, preferably from paint and coating industry.
• Good in interpersonal, communication, analytical, problem solving, time management and planning skills.
• Excellent communication & critical thinking skill.
• Able to work in a team and independently.

Responsibilities

• Hands on of R&D activities, research information, prepare lab test, performance test till pilot run.
• Value added/improved the quality of existing product.
• Develop & research new products to meet market trends and demands.
• Cost down on existing products by maintaining the product quality.
• Liaise with purchasing and suppliers for the materials related issues and sourcing new materials for the new product development.
• Investigate and study customer complaints. Initiate corrective action on the genuine customer complaint (which related to the formulations, specification and testing & provide report and counter measures).
• Modify the existing products to meet specific customer requirements, for instance color, finishing/appearance, costing etc.
• To carry out testing of competitor's product against a similar range of products and prepare report based on the findings.
• To ensure all the lab equipment is well maintained and controlled.
• To carry out testing for rework old stock or problematic finished goods.
• To ensure all R&D documentation is well maintained for audit.
• Arrange to produce for small orders from customers.
• To carry out any jobs assigned by superior.

• Paint or coating: 2 years (Preferred)
• Chemical handling: 2 years (Preferred)
• Quality Control (QC) for incoming and outgoing products: 2 years (Preferred)
• Waste disposal process management: 2 years (Preferred)
• Developing and updating SOP's: 2 years (Preferred)
• 8 days of Annual leave and 14 days of Sick leave.
