Job summary

NUMED MALAYSIA SDN. BHD is seeking a Lab Support Technician to assist in establishing and running teaching laboratories for a new programme.

You will coordinate with student offices and faculty to plan timetables and equipment, prepare lab sessions, manage inventory, and ensure strict safety practices. The role requires a Diploma or SPM/STPM in a sciences-related field, solid English and Bahasa Melayu communication, and at least 1 year of administrative experience within the education sector or

Responsibilities

• Liaises with student office and academic staff to discuss timetables and equipment requirements for laboratories.
• Plans event planning and management related to laboratory use and consumables.
• Organises and prepares lab sessions including chemicals and medical equipment with safety procedures.
• Maintains inventory and handles receiving items such as chemicals, apparatus, equipment and consumables, including preventive maintenance.
• Supports lecturers in laboratory sessions and provides technical advice to students and staff on teaching laboratory projects.
• Collaborates with teaching technicians and performs other duties as assigned.
• Maintains laboratory safety, health and environmental regulations including waste management, fire safety and chemical safety.

Job description

This position will also support the establishment and setup of the teaching laboratories for the new programme. Therefore, candidates with relevant experience in Sports and Exercise Sciences, particularly in laboratory setup, management, or teaching support, are encouraged to apply, as such experience will be highly valued.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Liaises with the student office to discuss timetables and with the academic staff to discuss equipment requirement and work plans to ensure smooth planning of the teaching sessions and examinations at laboratories.

Liases with student associations and academics for event planning and management related to laboratory use and consumables.

Organises and prepares the lab sessions including preparing chemicals and medical equipmentaccording to the work plan with all the safety and health procedure implemented to provide a safe learning and teaching environment for the staff and students.

Maintains the inventory, particularly receiving items for laboratory such as chemicals/apparatus/equipment/instrument and consumables which includes preventive maintenance/repair of the apparatus/equipment/instrument in order to maintain the laboratory supplies and the quality assurance.

Supports the work of lecturers in laboratory sessions and gives technical advice/support to student and staff on teaching laboratories related projects.

Work closely with other teaching technicians and perform any other duties as and when assigned from time to time.

Maintains the safety and health aspects in laboratories including the scheduled waste management, fire safety and biological and chemical safety management.

Person Specification: -

SPM / STPM or Diploma in any sciences related field.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience: -

Good command of English and Bahasa Melayu (written& spoken).

Microsoft Office (Excel / Word/power point).

Minimum 1 years experience in admisnistrative works.

Knowledge / experience in education industry.

Knowledge / experience in sports and exercise medical science laboratary.
