Job summary

Phoenix Tree International Sdn Bhd is seeking a Laboratory Technician to ensure safe and efficient operation of science practical lessons. You will prepare experiments, manage chemical solutions, and uphold safety standards for staff and pupils.

Responsibilities include setting up materials, assisting during lessons, maintaining hygiene, and tracking stock levels. Strong English communication and organizational skills are essential for collaboration with teachers and students.

Qualifications

• Degree in Science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics) or a related discipline.
• Prior experience in a school or laboratory environment is preferred.
• Demonstrated proficiency in laboratory safety protocols and chemical management.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills to engage with staff, students, and parents effectively.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, set up, and dismantle practical materials, solutions, and equipment for Biology, Chemistry, and Physics experiments as requested by teaching staff
• Accurately calculate, weigh, measure, and dilute chemical liquids to prepare required lab solutions
• Prepare bacteriological cultures, sterile agar petri dishes, and dissection apparatus adhering to aseptic techniques
• Support teachers and students during practical lessons with apparatus assembly, equipment demonstrations, and safety monitoring
• Safely transport and distribute chemical products, glassware, and equipment between labs and prep rooms
• Safely label, classify, and store prepared solutions based on chemical properties and hazard levels
• Neutralize and dispose of chemical, biological, and hazardous waste per Health & Safety regulations
• Wash and decontaminate glassware, clean equipment, and handle spills safely
• Perform end-of-day lab checks ensuring supplies shut off and stations are clean
• Log, classify, and track stock levels for incoming chemical products and storage by toxicity

The Laboratory Technician ensures the seamless, safe, and efficient operational running of science practical lessons. This role is responsible for preparing experimental setups, managing chemical solutions, and maintaining rigorous health, safety, and safeguarding standards for staff and pupils.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, set up, and dismantle practical materials, solutions, and equipment for Biology, Chemistry, and Physics experiments as requested by teaching staff
• Accurately calculate, weigh, measure, and dilute concentrated chemical liquids to prepare required lab solutions
• Prepare bacteriological cultures, sterile agar petri dishes, and dissection apparatus adhering to strict aseptic techniques
• Support teachers and students during practical lessons with apparatus assembly, equipment demonstrations, and active safety monitoring
• Safely transport and distribute chemical products, glassware, and equipment between labs and prep rooms
• Safely label, classify, and store prepared solutions in appropriate containers based on chemical properties, hazard levels, and risk profiles
• Neutralize and dispose of chemical, biological, and hazardous waste in accordance with institutional Health & Safety regulations
• Wash and decontaminate chemical glassware, clean pressure cookers, and neutralize chemical spills following safety guidelines
• Perform daily end-of-day lab checks, ensuring gas, water, and power supplies are safely shut off and workstations are clean
• Log, classify, and track stock levels for all incoming chemical products and organize storage according to toxicity levels

About you

• Degree in Science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics) or a related discipline
• Prior experience in a school or laboratory environment is preferred
• Demonstrated proficiency in laboratory safety protocols, chemical management, and basic IT (Microsoft Office & inventory software)
• Good communication and interpersonal skills to engage with staff, students, and parents effectively
• Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
