Teaching Fellow/Associate Teaching Fellow – Information Technology

Department: Science and Technology. Appointment Type: Contract (Teaching Focused).

Role Overview

The School of Pre-University and Continuing Education (SPACE) invites applications for a Teaching Fellow / Associate Teaching Fellow to teach IT-related units.

The successful candidate will be involved in teaching Foundation and Diploma courses as well as other short courses. The role also involves academic service, collegial engagement and external community collaboration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver engaging learning experiences in face-to-face, blended, or online formats that actively stimulate and foster student learning.
  • Assess student performance and provide constructive, timely feedback to support academic growth.
  • Collaborate proactively with internal and external stakeholders, contributing to meaningful partnerships within Curtin and the broader community in alignment with the department’s engagement goals.
  • Teaching all IT-related units (e.g., Introduction to Software Engineering, Programming).
Qualifications and Experience
  • Qualifications: A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a closely related field from a recognised institution.
  • Teaching Experience: Demonstrated experience teaching Diploma and Foundation-level students (or equivalent age group), with familiarity in online teaching platforms and tools.
Skills and Competencies
  • Resource Development: Ability to design and prepare high-quality teaching materials and assessments tailored to diploma and pre-university levels.
  • Technology Integration: Skilled in leveraging technology to enhance teaching delivery and student engagement.
  • Pedagogical Expertise: Strong understanding of contemporary educational practices and pedagogical approaches relevant to the discipline.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional English verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts clearly.
  • Interpersonal Skills: High-level interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills, fostering a collegial and supportive learning environment.
