Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in IT or related field; Master's preferred.
• 3–5 years of professional IT experience.
• Experience teaching IT at tertiary level.
• Strong knowledge in programming, databases, networks, systems analysis or software development.
• Excellent communication and ability to design student-centered learning.

Responsibilities

UNITAR College is seeking a passionate and experienced Lecturer (IT) to join our academic team in Sungai Petani, Kedah. This is a full-time position that plays a vital role in delivering high-quality information technology education to our students. As a Lecturer in IT, you will be responsible for designing and delivering engaging curriculum, conducting practical laboratory sessions, and fostering an environment of innovation and critical thinking within the tertiary education sector. This role is instrumental in preparing students for successful careers in the rapidly evolving technology industry.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and deliver comprehensive IT curriculum aligned with industry standards and institutional learning outcomes
• Conduct engaging lectures, tutorials and practical laboratory sessions across a range of IT subjects and disciplines
• Prepare and maintain course materials, lecture notes, practical exercises and assessment tools
• Assess student learning through examinations, assignments, projects and practical evaluations, providing constructive feedback
• Supervise students in practical IT laboratory work and support the development of hands‑on technical skills
• Stay current with emerging technologies, industry trends and best practices within the IT field
• Participate in curriculum review and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure relevance and quality
• Mentor and support student learning, providing academic guidance and pastoral care
• Contribute to departmental activities, meetings and institutional responsibilities as required
• Engage in professional development and maintain subject matter expertise through ongoing learning

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field; Master's degree is preferred
• Minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in the IT industry or related technical field
• Proven experience in teaching IT subjects at tertiary or higher education level
• Strong knowledge and practical expertise in core IT areas such as programming, database management, network administration, systems analysis or software development
• Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly
• Ability to design and deliver engaging, student‑centred learning experiences
• Proficiency in curriculum design and instructional planning aligned with learning outcomes
• Familiarity with learning management systems and educational technology tools
• Strong organisational and time‑management skills
• Commitment to professional development and staying abreast of industry advancements
