Job summary

Geon Asia Systems Sdn. Bhd. is seeking an AV Systems Engineer in Malaysia to design, implement, and support professional AV solutions for corporate, hospitality, and large-scale projects.

You will work with leading brands and advanced IP-based workflows, including LED display integration and system programming. Fresh graduates are welcome to apply; on-the-job training and development will be provided. Travel to project sites may be required to ensure installation quality and commissioning

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field; equivalent technical experience may be considered.
• 3+ years of experience in AV systems design, installation, integration, commissioning, or engineering is preferred.
• Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply for Junior AV Systems Engineer positions; training will be provided.
• Strong understanding of AV hardware including DSPs, mixers, matrix switchers, amplifiers, microphones, projectors, LED displays, LCD displays, and control systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, engineer, and document AV systems based on project requirements, client specifications, and industry best practices.
• Develop and maintain system schematics, signal flow diagrams, rack layouts, wiring diagrams, and system documentation.
• Configure, program, integrate, and troubleshoot AV control systems and equipment (Crestron, Extron, AMX, Q-SYS, Shure, Yamaha, Novastar).
• Design and manage IP-based audio and video distribution, including Dante networks and AV-over-IP technologies.
• Perform AV programming for control interfaces, automation, system logic, audio and video systems, and integrated AV environments.
• Configure and program LED display systems and LED processors.
• Perform on-site system integration, commissioning, testing, troubleshooting, and technical support.

Job description

We are looking for an AV Systems Engineer to join our growing team. You will be responsible for the design, programming, system integration, commissioning, and technical support of professional AV systems, including audio, video, control systems, networking, and LED display solutions.

The role involves working with leading AV technologies such as Shure, Q-SYS, Yamaha, Crestron, Extron, Novastar, Dante, and AV-over-IP, as well as configuring LED processors, system mapping, signal routing, and system programming.

You will work closely with our Project, Sales, Technical Support, and Operations teams to deliver high-quality AV solutions for corporate, commercial, hospitality, and large-scale projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Design, engineer, and document Audio Visual (AV) systems based on project requirements, client specifications, and industry best practices.

Develop and maintain system schematics, signal flow diagrams, rack layouts, wiring diagrams, and system documentation.

Configure, program, integrate, and troubleshoot AV control systems and equipment, including Crestron, Extron, AMX, Q-SYS, Shure, Yamaha, Novastar, and other leading AV platforms.

Design and manage IP-based audio and video distribution, including Dante audio networks and AV-over-IP technologies.

Perform AV programming for control interfaces, automation, system logic, audio systems, video systems, and integrated AV environments.

Configure and program LED display systems and LED processors.

Perform on-site system integration, commissioning, testing, troubleshooting, and technical support.

Provide technical oversight during installation and ensure systems are installed according to approved designs and specifications.

Work closely with Project Managers, consultants, contractors, clients, and internal technical teams to ensure successful project delivery.

Provide technical support, troubleshooting, knowledge transfer, and training to clients and internal teams.

Prepare commissioning documents, testing reports, as-built drawings, configuration records, and other required technical documentation.

Ensure AV systems comply with relevant safety requirements, industry standards, project specifications, and client requirements.

Maintain accurate records of system configurations, software changes, programming updates, and project revisions.

Keep up to date with emerging AV, networking, control, LED, and collaboration technologies, and recommend improvements where appropriate.

Required:

Basic understanding of network switching, routing, VLANs, IP addressing, and network troubleshooting is an advantage.

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Willingness to work on-site and travel to project locations when required.

Eagerness to learn and develop within a multidisciplinary AV, IT, networking, and systems integration environment.

Preferred:

Industry certifications such as AVIXA CTS / CTS-D / CTS-I, Dante Certification, Crestron DMC-E, Extron certification, or equivalent.

Experience configuring and supporting AV systems from Shure, Yamaha, Q-SYS, Novastar, Crestron, Extron, AMX, and other leading manufacturers.

Experience with LED processors and LED display systems, including mapping, configuration, signal routing, and system integration.

Experience with Unified Communications (UC) platforms such as Zoom Rooms, Microsoft Teams Rooms, or Cisco Webex.

Experience with AV control system programming using Crestron, Extron, AMX, Q-SYS, or similar platforms.

Familiarity with construction drawings, floor plans, elevations, rack layouts, and AV shop drawings.

Basic understanding of AutoCAD or similar CAD software is an advantage.

Experience with Dante, AES67, AV-over-IP, NDI, or other network-based AV technologies is an advantage.

Junior / Mid-Level / Senior
