Job summary

SGS is seeking a junior ESG analyst in Malaysia to assist in sustainability assurance and advisory engagements, aligning deliverables with applicable standards and client expectations. You will support sustainability reporting, data collection, and research to develop insights and engagement activities.

The role involves collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, contributing to training materials, and helping plan assurance engagements under ISAE 3000 and related standards.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of relevant experience in sustainability reporting, ESG assessment, GHG accounting, internal audit, or related fields. Fresh graduates are also welcome to apply.
• Preferably holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Engineering, or other related disciplines.
• Good understanding of ESG, sustainability, climate change, and GHG accounting, with basic knowledge of relevant frameworks and standards (e.g., GRI, ISSB/IFRS, GHG Protocol, ISO 14064) and willingness to develop technical expertise.
• Proactive, observant and able to identify key details, gaps or follow-up actions during project execution.
• Fast learner with strong research, analytical and writing capabilities, and able to work with minimal guidance.
• Able to support training content development and demonstrate confidence or potential to deliver training, workshops or awareness sessions.
• Attendance in relevant training and/or possession of certifications in IFRS S1 & S2, GHG Protocol, Climate Risk Scenario Analysis, Project Management, or other sustainability-related disciplines is an added advantage.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the delivery of sustainabilityassurance and advisory engagements, supporting timely completion, quality deliverables, and compliance with applicablestandards.
• Assist in sustainability reporting and disclosures in accordance with relevant frameworks and standards (e.g., GRI, ISSB/IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards, CDP, and GHG Protocol).
• Conduct research on evolving ESG practices, sustainability standards, and regulatory requirements to support the development of relevant insights and engagement activities
• Support the development of ESG, sustainability, climate change, and GHG-related training materials, including presentation slides, case studies, workshop activities, and supporting notes.
• Assist the Lead Assessor in planning, coordinating, and conducting assurance engagements in compliance with ISAE 3000, ISSA 5000, and other applicable assurance standards.
• Assist with business development activities, including supporting client presentations, proposal preparation, and other related activities.
• Work with internal and external stakeholders and in collaboration with the different organizational entities.
