Supplier Quality Manager
Position Summary:
Lumileds is seeking a highly qualified Supplier Quality Manager to join its Quality Management team. This role is responsible for leading all aspects of supplier quality management, including supplier risk assessment, supplier development and qualification to Lumileds' global standards, supplier continuous improvement initiatives, incoming quality assurance, and supplier escalation management.
This is a high-visibility position requiring a seasoned and well-rounded quality professional with extensive experience in the semiconductor industry. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, strategic supplier management capabilities, and a proven track record of driving quality excellence across a global supply base.
What You Will Do:
Supplier Quality & New Product Introduction (NPI)
- Drive early supplier involvement in new product development and product/component improvements.
- Define supplier quality requirements for NPI and high-volume manufacturing (HVM) improvements to ensure manufacturability and material quality performance.
- Participate in supplier selection activities and capability assessments.
- Engage suppliers to ensure their technical competencies and manufacturing capabilities meet business requirements.
- Lead supplier quality development activities both on-site and remotely.
- Monitor, deploy, and drive Supplier Quality KPIs and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Conduct periodically business and quality reviews with critical suppliers to secure commitment to improvement plans.
Quality Systems & Audits
- Lead or support internal, external, and supplier quality system audits.
- Ensure supplier compliance with organizational quality standards and regulatory requirements.
Sustainability & Compliance
- Ensure assigned suppliers comply with sustainability requirements.
- Maintain accurate and timely Global Supplier Rating data submissions and reporting.
- Own and lead resolution of supplier and material-related quality issues that impact factories and customers.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams and supplier resources for effective containment, corrective actions, and preventive actions.
- Manage quality excursions and drive root-cause investigations to closure.
Traceability & Containment
- Perform material-level traceability investigations.
- Implement immediate containment actions at supplier sites, incoming inspection, and factory WIP while root-cause investigations are in progress.

What You Will Bring (RequiredQualifications):
- Demonstrates strong knowledge of business practices and procedures related to process control, product testing, statistical analysis, and issue resolution, enabling effective data-driven analytical decision-making.
- Applies a broad range of principles, theories, and concepts while leveraging prior experience to determine appropriate courses of action and develop solutions to moderately complex technical and operational challenges.
- Experienced in planning, prioritizing, and scheduling work to meet deadlines and ensure the timely completion of multiple independent tasks, as well as short-term and long-term projects.
- Possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interface with business unit managers, cross-functional teams, and peers. Communicates clearly when establishing, defining, aligning, and driving systems, processes, strategies, and plans for product and process development and deployment.
Field of Study
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in relevant Engineering field preferably Material Science or Applied Science.
Years of Experience (Minimum)
Preferred Qualifications:
Technical & Industry Expertise
- ISO/IATF and VDA 6.3 certified.
- Experience in Supplier Quality Engineering, Quality Engineering, or Process Engineering.
- Experience in the semiconductor and/or electronics industry.
- Strong auditing skills and familiarity with quality management standards.
- Understanding of business and supplier relationships.
- Fundamental knowledge of materials science.
- Technical expertise in critical LED/semiconductor materials, including:
- Ceramic substrates
- Printed Circuit Boards (PCB)
- Leadframes
- LED chips
- Silicone materials
- Mechanical parts
- Electronic components
- Understanding of key manufacturing process flows for LED and semiconductor materials.
- Basic knowledge of:
- LED reliability testing and stress conditions
- Thermal and mechanical challenges
Quality & Problem-Solving Skills
- Strong 8D problem-solving methodology knowledge and application.
- Experience with Six Sigma tools and methodologies.
- Root cause analysis and corrective action implementation experience.
- Supplier audit and quality assessment capabilities.
