Damsmart Asia Sdn Bhd is seeking a meticulous Subtitle QA specialist to verify accuracy, timing, and readability across multilingual video projects.

You will collaborate with translators, editors, and project managers to report issues, implement feedback, and ensure compliance with technical specs, captions standards, and accessibility guidelines.

Proficiency in subtitling tools and time-coding, plus strong language skills are essential to deliver polished, accessible content on launch dates.

Formación

• Excellent command of the target language(s) and fluency in English.
• Strong knowledge of grammar, syntax, and cultural nuances.
• Proficiency in subtitling software such as Subtitle Edit, EZTitles or Aegisub.
• Understanding of audio/video synchronization and time-coding.
• Attention to detail and ability to spot errors quickly.
• Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills for cross-functional teams.
• Experience in subtitling, translation, or localization QA.
• Familiarity with accessibility standards (closed captions or SDH) is a plus.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Responsabilidades

• Verify subtitle accuracy, spelling, grammar, punctuation, and adherence to style guides.
• Ensure subtitles are synchronized correctly with audio/video content.
• Check line breaks, character limits, and readability.
• Identify, report, and rectify errors affecting viewing experience.
• Ensure compliance with technical specifications, file formats, encoding, frame rates.
• Troubleshoot subtitle files for encoding or formatting issues.
• Work with translators, editors, and PMs to resolve issues and implement feedback.
• Communicate with localization teams to maintain consistency across multilingual projects.
• Suggest improvements to QA workflows and stay updated on industry standards.

Verify subtitle accuracy, including spelling, grammar, punctuation, and adherence to style guides.

Ensure subtitles are synchronized correctly with audio and video content.

Check for appropriate line breaks, character limits, and readability standards.

Quality Control:

Identify, report, and rectify errors within subtitles that may impact viewing experience such as but not limited to missing captions, incorrect formatting, or timing discrepancies

Ensure compliance with technical specifications (e.g., file formats, encoding, frame rates).

Troubleshoot subtitle files for issues such as but not limited to file corruption, encoding, and/or formatting issues.

Work closely with translators, editors, and project managers to resolve issues and implement feedback.

Communicate with localization teams to maintain consistency in multilingual projects.

Process Improvement:

Suggest improvements to quality assurance workflows and tools to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Stay updated on industry trends and evolving standards for subtitling and accessibility.

Skills and Qualifications

Linguistic & Technical Skills:

Excellent command of the target language(s) and fluency in English.

Strong knowledge of grammar, syntax, and cultural nuances.

Proficiency in subtitling software (e.g., Subtitle Edit, EZTitles, Aegisub, or equivalent).

Understanding of audio/video synchronization and time-coding.

Attention to Detail:

Ability to spot errors and inconsistencies quickly and accurately.

A meticulous approach to reviewing technical and linguistic details.

Communication:

Strong interpersonal skills for collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Ability to provide clear and constructive feedback.

Experience:

Prior experience in subtitling, translation, or localization QA.

Familiarity with accessibility standards, such as closed captions or SDH (Subtitles for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing), is a plus.

Ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines/launch dates.
