Job summary

Nexperia Malaysia is seeking an experienced backend test engineer to maintain, optimize, and develop the testing and strip-handling processes for semiconductor products mounted on leadframes. You will work with SH5300A strip handler and FH1200 film frame handler to improve yield and reliability.

The role requires a 5+ year background in FT, Tape & Reel, and strip handling, plus strong SPC and GR&R skills, and proficiency with Minitab, JMP, and advanced Excel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical, electronic, mechanical, or materials engineering.
• 5+ years in semiconductor backend manufacturing, especially FT, Tape & Reel, and strip-handling.
• Familiar with ATE and strip-handling machines.
• Strong SPC knowledge with GR&R and capability studies.
• Proficient in data analysis using Minitab, JMP, or advanced Excel.
• Experience with 8D or Six Sigma for root-cause analysis.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, optimize, and develop backend testing and strip-handling processes.
• Improve yield, reliability, and reduce defects during testing.
• Monitor throughput and minimize equipment downtime and costs.
• Analyze root causes of test failures using statistical data.

What you need to do

• Responsible for maintaining, optimizing, and developing the backend testing and handling processes for semiconductor products mounted on leadframes or strips using Cohu SH5300A (Strip handler) and FH1200 (Film Frame handler).
• Focus on yield improvement, equipment reliability, and defect reduction during the testing.
• Monitor and improve testing and strip-handling processes to maximize throughput, reduce equipment downtime, and minimize cost.
• Analyze root causes for test failures, yield drops, and test escapes using statistical data analysis.
• Collaborate with equipment maintenance and vendors to troubleshoot handlers, Automated Test Equipment (ATE), and vision systems.
• Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), process travelers, and risk assessment documentation (e.g., PFMEA).
• Train operators and production technicians on new process requirements and troubleshooting methodologies.

What you need to have

• Bachelor's degree in electrical, Electronic, Mechanical, or Materials Engineering.
• 5+ years of experience in semiconductor backend manufacturing, specifically within Final Test (FT), Tape & Reel, and strip-handling.
• Familiarity with ATE and strip handling machines.
• Strong understanding of statistical process control (SPC) and capability studies (GR& R).
• Proficiency in data analysis software such as Minitab, JMP, or advanced Excel.
• Hands-on experience with root-cause analysis frameworks like 8D, or Six Sigma.
