Job summary

MR D.I.Y. is a home-grown retailer with over 1,300 stores across Malaysia and Brunei.

This role supports strategic planning, operational excellence, and expansion activities to drive growth in existing businesses and international markets. You will build financial models, conduct market research, and coordinate cross-functional teams to launch new concepts and revenue streams, ensuring timely delivery and strong stakeholder alignment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance/economics or related field.
• Experience in management consulting, strategy, business planning, corporate finance, or research.
• Strong analytical, numerical, commercial and execution skills.
• Demonstrates strategic thinking with an entrepreneurial mindset an asset.
• Mandarin proficiency is an added advantage.
• Proficient in MS Office (Excel), Bloomberg, Capital IQ and related tools.
• Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills.

All MR. D.I.Y. stores are managed directly and the retailer often works in collaboration with owners of shopfront properties or owners of malls. MR. D.I.Y. stores offer a wide selection of SKUs across five major categories, namely hardware; household and furnishing; electrical; stationery and sports equipment products; and others (comprising toys, car accessories, jewellery, cosmetics, food and beverage items, as well as health and personal care).

Responsibility

• Support the strategic planning and operational excellence of existing businesses and international expansion activities.
• Support to launch, iterate and scale new concepts/revenue streams or growth projects.
• Support in the identification of strategic issues and opportunities that could influence business growth and profitability.
• Support in the management of portfolio of investee companies to deliver deal value.
• Support the development of thought leadership and market intelligence for the Group via targeted research on industries, markets, customer segments, competitors, and regulatory landscapes.
• Build financial models and provide financial analysis for business case simulations, project economics, funding plan and perform sensitivity analyses to highlight key risks.
• Lead and coordinate cross-functional teams to implement strategic initiatives and ensure successful new market setup and activation.
• Coordinate and follow up with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that project timelines are met.
• To support ad-hoc special projects by top management / other departments as and when required

Job Qualification

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field
• Relevant working experience in management consulting, strategy, business planning, corporate finance, research, or equivalent
• Strong analytical, numerical, commercial, and execution skills
• Demonstrates critical and strategic thinking; entrepreneurial mindset is an added advantage
• Proficiency in Mandarin is an added advantage
• Proficient in MS Office (especially MS Excel), Bloomberg, Capital IQ, and related tools
• Excellent organisational, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to ask relevant and probing questions
