Job summary

Kum Fatt Engineering Sdn. Bhd. is seeking a procurement professional to source electrical equipment for large-scale utility projects in Malaysia.

You will pre-qualify manufacturers, build a robust supplier database, and manage bids to meet engineering budgets and schedules. The role covers RFQs/RFPs, negotiations with international suppliers, and coordination of logistics for heavy electrical assets from ports to substations, ensuring timely delivery and compliance with local standards.

Qualifications

• Source, pre-qualify, and onboard global and local manufacturers, OEMs, and specialized sub-contractors capable of meeting strict utility-grade standards (e.g., TNB compliance)
• Build and maintain a robust supplier database for long-lead EHV/HV electrical equipment, including heavy power transformers, high-voltage cables, switchgear, and structural steel for substations
• Review electrical schematics, single-line diagrams (SLDs), technical specifications, and tender documents to formulate accurate material take-offs and procurement budgets
• Prepare RFQs/RFPs, lead commercial negotiations, and conduct technical-commercial bid evaluations in alignment with engineering constraints and project timeslines
• Negotiate favorable commercial terms, pricing, multi-currency payment structures, liquidated damages, warranties, and delivery schedules (Incoterms) with major international suppliers
• Drive value engineering initiatives without compromising grid reliability, statutory safety compliance, or technical specifications
• Coordinate complex logistics and heavy-haul transport planning for oversized, heavy electrical assets from ports to local substation sites
• Monitor manufacturing milestones, factory acceptance testing (FAT) schedules, and site delivery timelines to prevent project bottlenecks
• Ensure all sourced materials and vendor processes conform to local Malaysia statutory requirements, CIDB standards, and international utility frameworks
