Job summary

Hitachi Energy in Malaysia seeks aCost Controller to support financial planning, cost management, forecasting, and performance analysis across project and operational activities. You will partner with project managers and finance teams to ensure cost control and financial transparency.

Responsibilities include budgeting, variance analysis, cost allocations, month-end close, and driving process improvements. Knowledge of SAP S/4HANA and advanced Excel is highly valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field.
• Minimum 3 years in cost controlling, management accounting, FP&A, or similar finance functions.
• Strong costing, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis skills.
• Hands-on SAP experience required; SAP S/4HANA preferred.
• Experience in multinational or project-based environments is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain cost control processes and financial governance.
• Prepare budgets, forecasts, and cost estimates for projects and operations.
• Monitor actual vs. budgets, analyze variances, and provide financial insights.
• Analyze project and operational costs with focus on labour and resources.
• Collaborate with project managers to improve cost efficiency and resource allocation.
• Lead month-end and year-end cost reporting and closing activities.
• Review cost allocations for accuracy and ensure alignment with budget controls.
• Review and approve purchase requisitions per policy and budget.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, standards, and corporate requirements.
• Drive continuous improvement for cost management tools and processes.
