Job summary

Bruker is seeking a Physicist in Penang, Malaysia, to advance optical system integration and the development of Optical Emission Spectrometry (OES) instruments. You will prototype, optimize optical components and define workflows for instruments, supporting ramp-up to serial production.

Join Bruker’s global team, coordinate with sites and vendors, and participate in training sessions in Europe with occasional travel within R&D projects; strong English communication is essential.

Qualifications

• 7 years related experience with Bachelor’s degree; 3 years related experience with Master’s degree; PhD in Optical Engineering, Physics, or other relevant subject
• Experience in analytical instrumentation, Optical Emission Spectrometry, spectrometry equipment or other optical analytical techniques
• Good understanding in opto-mechanical design and optical principals and concepts
• Experience in optical design software (Zemax, Autodesk Mechanical Desktop, Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks or other)
• Understanding and hands-on experience of data collection and evaluation
• Appreciation and understanding of different cultures and religions
• Very good communication skills for both internal and global teleconferences in English
• Assignment requires 1–2-month training session at a Bruker headquarters in Europe and occasional travel to Europe within R&D projects

Responsibilities

• Development, prototyping and optimization of optical products and components
• Defining and optimizing workflows for instruments
• Supporting product ramp-up to serial production and approval of quality standard for assembled products
• Maintaining our existing portfolio together with operations, purchasing and vendors
• Efficient cooperation with engineering in optical, mechanics, electronics, software including other Bruker sites and vendors
