Plexus Manufacturing Sdn Bhd in Penang is seeking a Staff NPI Engineer for Advanced Mechanical Systems. You will architect agile manufacturing solutions for high‑mix, low‑volume assemblies and lead complex NPI builds onsite.
This role demands extensive electro‑mechanical expertise, and travel to customer sites for early engagements. You will drive APQP, DFM reviews, and continuous improvement to improve cycle time and yield.

As the Staff NPI Engineer for our dynamic High-Mix, Low-Volume (HMLV) mechanical assembly operations, you will serve as the definitive technical authority. In this environment, adaptability and precision are paramount. You will leverage your deep expertise in classical and advanced manufacturing engineering to architect, troubleshoot, and optimize flexible production processes, transforming highly customized, complex mechanical designs into flawless production realities.
Key Job Accountabilities:
Agile Process Architecture: Initiate, design, and optimize highly flexible manufacturing and supporting processes tailored for rapid changeovers and intricate mechanical assemblies. Drive the development of modular cell designs and adaptable tooling required for an HMLV environment.
NPI Execution & First-Pass Excellence: Lead, execute, and meticulously monitor complex NPI builds. You will troubleshoot in real-time and drive iterative improvements to deliver optimal, scalable manufacturing solutions that ensure absolute precision on low-volume, high-value units.
Strategic Customer Partnership: Act as the premier technical liaison for new product launches. You will coordinate and host "white-glove" customer visits for first-build validations onsite, while publishing authoritative, transparent progress reports on product readiness to key stakeholders.
Advanced Quality Planning (APQP) & Optimization: Lead rigorous APQP activities and Design for Manufacturability (DFM) reviews specific to complex mechanical integrations. Champion continuous improvement initiatives to drive year-over-year enhancements in Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) regarding cycle time, yield, and process agility.
Technology Scouting & Early Engagement: Travel to customer sites for pivotal early-stage technical engagements. You will proactively identify and funnel requirements for next-generation machinery, automated assists, and novel manufacturing technologies back to the site to keep our assembly lines on the cutting edge of industry capability.
Education & Experience Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree with 15 or more years of related experience is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience will be considered.
With a strong background in complex electro-mechanical or pure mechanical assembly.
Demonstrated expertise in navigating and optimizing High-Mix, Low-Volume (HMLV) manufacturing environments.
