Job summary

Flex is seeking a Staff Industrial Engineer to join our Prai, Penang site. You will lead engineering teams to optimize labor utilization, plant layouts, and production schedules, while driving cost reductions and throughput improvements.

Ideal candidates have a bachelor’s degree with 7 years’ experience, Master’s preferred, and a track record of supervising and coordinating cross-functional projects in manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience and training.
• Master’s or MBA degree preferred.
• Typically requires 7 years of engineering experience including supervision.

Responsibilities

• Manage a team of engineers and technicians to establish work measurement programs and standards.
• Evaluate staff utilization, layout, and production data to optimize labor and equipment use.
• Recommend methods to improve efficiency and reduce waste in materials and utilities.
• Develop management and cost review systems for planning and wage administration.
• Coordinate production planning and control to ensure product quality.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to design manufacturable new products.
• Lead initiatives to increase throughput and reduce costs in constrained areas.
• Implement HR strategies to recruit and retain qualified personnel.

Job Summary

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add a Staff Industrial Engineer located in Prai, Penang.

What a typical day looks like

• Manages a team of engineers and technicians to establish work measurement programs and evaluates work samples to develop standards for labor utilization.
• Evaluates staff utilization, facility layout, and operational data, such as production costs, process flow charts, and production schedules, to define efficient utilization of workers and equipment.
• Recommends methods for improving worker efficiency and reducing waste of materials and utilities, such as restructuring job duties, reorganizing workflow, relocation work stations and equipment, and purchase of equipment.
• May develop management systems for cost reviews, financial planning, wage and salary administration, and job evaluation.
• Develops management control systems to aid in financial planning and cost reviews, and design production planning and control systems to coordinate activities and ensure product quality.
• Designs or improve systems for the physical distribution of goods and services, as well as defining the most efficient plant locations.
• Organizes details into a broad view of the total operations and organization of Flex.
• Partners with other engineering team members to design manufacturable new products.
• Manages initiatives to increase throughput, reduce cost and improve performance in constrained areas.
• Implements appropriate HR strategies and actions to recruit and retain a qualified and motivated workforce.
