Job summary

Renesas Electronics Corp. in Malaysia seeks a seasoned Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) leader to oversee supplier quality at OSATs and internal fabs, driving quality interfaces and alignment with business goals.

You will guide investigations using 8D, lead audits, manage supplier qualifications, and push continuous improvement through cross-functional collaboration, coaching and deployment of best practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in the semiconductor industry, including supplier quality, manufacturing, process engineering, or quality engineering.
• Strong knowledge of semiconductor assembly processes and quality control methodologies.
• Hands-on experience with 8D, 5-Why, Fishbone analysis, and other structured problem-solving methodologies.
• Knowledge and practical application of ISO9001, IATF16949, and Automotive Core Tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions.
• Auditing experience based on ISO9001 and IATF16949 requirements.

Responsibilities

• Supplier Quality Management & Liaison – Act as the primary quality interface between suppliers and Renesas, ensuring alignment with quality requirements, business objectives, and customer expectations.
• Quality Excursion Management & Corrective Actions – Lead investigations of quality excursions across internal operations, suppliers, and customers using structured problem-solving methodologies (e.g., 8D), and drive containment, corrective actions, and preventive actions to closure.
• Supplier Audit, Certification & Change Control – Plan and execute supplier audit programs, lead supplier certification activities, and ensure effective management of process, material, and site changes.
• Supplier Assessment, Qualification & Performance Management – Lead supplier assessments and qualifications for new subcontractors, manage supplier quality rating and performance through KPIs and scorecards, and drive improvement actions to achieve Renesas quality objectives.
• Continuous Improvement Leadership – Lead quality improvement initiatives, analyze quality trends and systemic risks, manage supplier escalation activities, and influence cross-functional stakeholders to drive sustainable improvements across supplier operations.
• Training & Best Practice Deployment – Drive supplier quality capability development through training, coaching, and deployment of best-known methods and quality management practices.

Key Responsibilities

Qualifications

Must (Required)

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline
• Min 10 years of experience in the semiconductor industry, including supplier quality, manufacturing, process engineering, or quality engineering
• Strong knowledge of semiconductor assembly processes and quality control methodologies
• Hands-on experience with 8D, 5-Why, Fishbone analysis, and other structured problem-solving methodologies
• Knowledge and practical application of ISO9001, IATF16949, and Automotive Core Tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions
• Auditing experience based on ISO9001 and IATF16949 requirements

Want (Preferred)

• Certified Lead Auditor for ISO9001 and/or IATF16949
• Experience with advanced semiconductor packaging technologies
• Hands-on experience in solder-based die attach and clip attach processes
• Proven ability to influence suppliers and drive quality improvements
• Experience in regional or global supplier quality management
• Experience leading cross-functional quality initiatives
• Experience coaching or mentoring engineers
