About the role

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Special Needs Educator to join our educational team in Johor Bahru, Johor. In this vital role, you will provide specialist support to students with diverse learning needs, helping them to access the curriculum and develop essential life skills. You will work collaboratively with teachers, parents and other professionals to create an inclusive learning environment where every student can thrive and reach their potential. This position plays a crucial part in our commitment to education and training excellence, ensuring that students with special needs receive the individualised attention and support they require to succeed academically and socially.

Key responsibilities

Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with special educational needs, adapting teaching methods to meet individual learning styles and abilities

Assist students with personal care needs, mobility and daily living skills where appropriate

Develop and implement strategies to support students' behavioural, emotional and social development

Monitor and record student progress, maintaining detailed observations and documentation of achievements and areas requiring further support

Collaborate with teachers to prepare learning materials, adapted resources and visual supports tailored to students' needs

Communicate regularly with parents and carers regarding student progress, attending meetings and sharing information about development and support strategies

Assist with transitions between activities and settings, providing reassurance and consistency for students

Must have own transport -car

Prepare material to teach the child

What we're looking for

Relevant qualification in special needs education, teaching assistance or a related field, or demonstrated equivalent experience working with students with special educational needs

Strong understanding of diverse learning difficulties and disabilities, including autism spectrum disorder, physical disabilities, hearing or visual impairments and intellectual disabilities

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to explain concepts clearly and listen actively to students, colleagues and parents

Patience, empathy and a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable and disadvantaged learners

Ability to build positive relationships quickly and work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team

Flexibility and adaptability when responding to changing student needs and classroom situations

Basic knowledge of safeguarding, child protection and health and safety requirements in educational settings

Organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain accurate records

Willingness to undertake ongoing professional development and training relevant to special needs education

Experience with assistive technology or knowledge of specialised equipment used to support students with disabilities is advantageous
