Job summary

Jora Malaysia is seeking a hands-on field technician/engineer to support multi-site solar deployments across Malaysia. You will handle equipment transport, installation, wiring, and on-site documentation to ensure safe, compliant project delivery.

Ideal candidates hold a Diploma or Bachelor's degree in engineering or physics, with Chargeman A0/A1 or GDL licenses preferred, and you must be willing to travel 100% for site assessments and supervision. This is a permanent, full-time role.

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Engineering / Engineering Technology or Bachelor’s Degree in Science (Physics, Applied Physics, Industrial Physics) or equivalent recognized by SEDA Malaysia.
  • Preferably hold additional relevant certifications such as Chargeman A0/A1 license or GDL License.
  • Proficient in electrical design software and solar PV system simulation tools.
  • Understanding of Malaysian electrical codes, standards, and renewable energy regulations.
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to solve technical problems and perform system sizing calculations.
  • Good command in English, Bahasa Malaysia and Mandrain will be an advantage.
  • Ability to lead and manage a team of technicians or workers on-site.
  • Willingness to travel for site assessments and project supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Equipment Transport: Safely drive and transport solar cargo, modules, heavy inverters, and racking materials to various sites.
  • Inventory Control: Manage warehouse inventory tracking, dispatch schedules, and on-site material logs.
  • Outstation Travel: Travel across Malaysia for multi-site deployments, supervisor audits, and urgent repair calls.
  • Mechanical Assembly: Mount structural racking systems, rails, and roof brackets securely, ensuring proper waterproofing to prevent roof leaks.
  • Module Deployment: Lift and physically mount photovoltaic (PV) modules and microinverters onto the roof racks.
  • Electrical Integration: Route conduits, perform DC/AC cable crimping, string wiring, and connect systems to inverters and distribution boards.
  • Surveys & Data: Conduct on-site physical surveys and gather initial field data (measurements, photos, utility bills).
  • Testing Support: Assist with basic electrical testing (voltage, insulation resistance) and system commissioning.
  • Rectifications: Troubleshoot offline systems, handle warranty component replacements, and execute physical repair works.
  • Coordination: Schedule site visits and deliver clear work instructions to subcontractors and client technicians.
  • Authority Files: Support the team with paperwork for SEDA, TNB, and CIDB submissions, including TNB meter change follow-ups.
  • Reporting: Maintain daily attendance rosters, maintenance records, and update internal CRM tracking for the GCPV Engineer.
  • Perform other ad-hoc duties assigned by Management, Engineer, or Authority Team related to project administration and compliance.
