Job summary

SC Estate Builder Berhad seeks a Solar Design and Drafter to join the engineering team in Petaling Jaya, Selangor. You will design PV systems for residential and commercial projects and produce detailed technical drawings to meet industry standards.

The role requires knowledge of electrical systems, solar technologies, and local building regulations, with 2–4 years of relevant experience. You will collaborate with architects, engineers, and project managers to optimise installations for

Qualifications

• Qualification in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, and GCPV or related field (Diploma or Degree level)
• 2–4 years of professional experience in solar design, photovoltaic engineering, or related electrical engineering disciplines
• Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, or specialised solar design tools (PVsyst, Helioscope)
• Strong understanding of electrical systems, solar panel technology, inverters, battery storage, and balance-of-system components
• Knowledge of Malaysian electrical codes (IEC standards) and local building regulations relevant to solar installations
• Demonstrated ability to perform load calculations, system sizing, and electrical circuit design
• Excellent technical drawing and documentation skills with meticulous attention to detail
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to optimise designs for performance and cost
• Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams
• Professional certification such as CEEC (Certified Energy Efficiency Consultant) or similar is advantageous
• Experience in the property development or construction industry would be valued

Responsibilities

• Design and develop photovoltaic (PV) systems for residential and commercial projects, ensuring optimal energy efficiency and performance
• Create comprehensive technical drawings, schematics, and design documentation using CAD software and industry-standard tools
• Conduct site assessments and feasibility studies for solar installations, evaluating factors such as solar exposure, roof conditions, and structural integrity
• Calculate system sizing, electrical specifications, and safety requirements in accordance with local and international electrical codes
• Liaise with architects and structural engineers to integrate solar systems seamlessly into building designs
• Prepare quotations, project schedules, and technical specifications for client presentations and procurement purposes
• Ensure all designs comply with Malaysian regulations, building codes, and renewable energy standards
• Support project teams through the installation phase by providing technical guidance and resolving design-related issues
• Stay current with advancements in solar technology, industry best practices, and regulatory changes
• Contribute to the development of standardised design templates and processes to improve project efficiency

About the role

We are seeking a talented Solar Design and Drafter to join our engineering team on a full-time basis at our office in Petaling Jaya, Selangor. As a Solar Design and Drafter, you will be responsible for designing photovoltaic systems and creating detailed technical drawings that meet industry standards and regulatory requirements.
