Businesslist in Malaysia is seeking a skilled Software Test Engineer to ensure quality, reliability, and performance of our web-based portal applications. You will lead the end-to-end QA lifecycle, from requirements analysis and test planning to design, execution, defect management and process improvement.

Qualifications

• Must have minimum 4 years of experience in software testing or QA.
• Hands-on experience testing web-based applications.
• Proficiency in automation scripting using Python.
• Hands-on experience with UI automation frameworks such as Selenium and Playwright.
• Strong knowledge of SQL for backend data validation.
• Familiarity with Linux/RHEL environments and basic shell commands.

Responsibilities

• Review requirements, user stories, and designs to derive test scenarios and risk coverage.
• Own end-to-end QA lifecycle: planning, design, execution, defect management and reporting.
• Design, maintain and execute manual test cases for web apps.
• Develop, maintain and enhance automated test scripts for UI and API testing.
• Perform functional, regression, integration, smoke and end-to-end testing.
• Plan and execute performance, load, and stress testing to assess scalability and reliability.
• Analyze results, investigate defects, and coordinate with developers to resolve issues.
• Log, track and verify defects with reproducible steps and evidence.

Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled, proactive, and detail-oriented Software Test Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of our web-based portal applications. You will take end-to-end ownership of the quality assurance process, from requirement analysis and test planning to test design, execution, defect management, and continuous process improvement.

This position is ideal for an experienced QA professional who can work independently, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and takes initiative in driving quality throughout the software development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Review business requirements, user stories, functional specifications, and system designs to identify test scenarios, coverage gaps, and potential risks.
• Own the end-to-end QA process, including requirement review, test planning, test case design, execution, defect management, and test reporting.
• Proactively identify quality risks, recommend improvements, and drive QA best practices with minimal supervision.
• Design, review, maintain, and execute comprehensive manual test cases for web-based applications.
• Develop, maintain, and enhance automated test scripts for UI and API testing.
• Evaluate and determine the most appropriate approach for manual versus automated testing, with clear technical justification.
• Perform functional, regression, integration, smoke, sanity, and end-to-end testing.
• Plan and execute performance, load, and stress testing to evaluate system scalability, stability, and reliability.
• Analyze test results, investigate defects, identify root causes, and collaborate closely with developers to resolve issues efficiently.
• Log, track, prioritize, and verify defects with clear reproduction steps, supporting evidence, and detailed documentation.
• Validate backend data using SQL queries to ensure data integrity and consistency.
• Perform log analysis and basic troubleshooting in Linux/RHEL environments.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of QA processes, testing standards, and automation coverage.

Requirements

Mandatory Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years of experience in software testing or quality assurance.
• Strong understanding of software testing principles, test design techniques, and the software defect lifecycle.
• Proven ability to independently manage the full QA lifecycle, including requirement analysis, test planning, test case design, execution, and reporting.
• Self-driven, proactive, and able to work with minimal supervision.
• Hands‑on experience testing web-based applications.
• Practical experience in UI and API test automation.
• Proficiency in automation scripting using Python or a similar programming language.
• Hands‑on experience with UI automation frameworks such as Selenium, Playwright, or equivalent.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
• Solid experience in SQL for backend data validation.
• Comfortable working in Linux/RHEL environments, including log analysis and basic shell commands.
• Able to work effectively in fast‑paced environments with evolving requirements and tight project timelines.
