DESIGNATION: Software Test Engineer

Summary of Job Functions

• Carry out tasks in accordance with the QC framework, which includes establishing and tracking quality assurance metrics, building test plans, designing, and executing test cases with sufficient coverage.
• Responsible for timely completion of quality tests within project timelines, ensuring they are defect‑free and meet company standards and procedures.
• Meet the business and technical requirements that guide the design and development.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

1. Identify deviations from standards and suggest modifications to ensure compliance.
2. Ensure test procedures are well documented to promote reusability and compliance with standards.
3. Document software defects using a tracking system and report them to the software development team.
4. Drive forward the company’s test strategy.
5. Ensure that all testing is systematic: identify and log test failures, re‑run failures, and verify fixes.
6. Perform static testing: validate accuracy and completeness of requirements using the requirement document.
7. Define and prepare the following documents:
   • Requirement review checklist
   • Requirement Traceability Matrix
   • Test scenarios and test cases
8. Understand requirements and build the test plan.
9. Build test plan, test scenarios, test cases, and test data.
10. Build, update, and execute all testing types documented in the test plan such as smoke tests, functional tests, non‑functional tests, system tests, integration tests, end‑to‑end tests, etc.
11. Ensure handshaking from SIT/QA to UAT, including sharing test cases, test results, and defect logs with business users.
12. Conduct regular defect triage meetings and defect reporting sessions to discuss critical and high‑impact defects for prioritization and resolution.
13. Consolidate and analyze metrics for all test phases.
14. Perform causal analysis of defects raised during various testing stages, especially escaped defects.
15. Conduct test phase quality reviews with all impacted stakeholders.

Key Requirements / Skills / Experience

• Strong analytical and logical skills.
• Experience with Agile and SDLC methodologies.
• Effective time and work planning abilities.
• Experience in test management and defect management.
• Attention to detail with the ability to create clear and precise reports; detail‑oriented and skilled at reporting test results.
• Familiarity with testing tools such as SauceLabs and Jira.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently.
• Minimum of 4 to 5 years of testing experience.
• Knowledge of general and life insurance domains.
• Experience in API testing with Postman and SoapUI.
• Knowledge of SQL and database querying.
• Defect leakage, test case effectiveness, and delivery/execution rate must meet minimum expectations.
