Job summary

Motorola Solutions in Bayan Lepas, Malaysia, is looking for a New Grad embedded software tester to help verify firmware for in-car video systems and cameras. You will join the Video Embedded Software Engineering Team and contribute to design, test, and automation efforts.

This role emphasizes learning, hands-on development, and collaboration with cross‑functional teams, with opportunities to apply Python, scripting, and Gen AI to improve coverage and speed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Science, Communication Engineering or Software Engineering.
• Proficiency in Python, JavaScript and C-family languages.
• Knowledge of Android, IoT, WiFi, LTE and video systems is a plus.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and Gen AI in automation is beneficial.
• Good English communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform End to End Test on NPI program at device and system level.
• Design, develop and test software to ensure SW requirement compliance.
• Analyze test requirements to create effective test coverage.
• Translate requirements into manual/automated test cases.
• Develop Python scripts to increase coverage and speed.
• Collaborate with business and development teams on test strategy.
• Analyze, submit and manage defects; perform root-cause analysis.
• Reproduce and validate issues with engineering; improve automation setups.
• Create, upgrade and maintain test tools & infrastructure as needed.
• Vehicle drive testing as required; incorporate Gen AI into tests.

Department Overview

The Video Embedded Software Engineering Team at Motorola Solutions (MSI) delivers firmware for embedded devices such as in-car video systems, fixed video and body worn cameras. Working in close collaboration with other departments, engineers in this team excel at developing applications and drivers under Linux, and have a variety of backgrounds and specializations. The team uses modern C++ to develop highly reusable code, and utilize state-of-the-art systems and tools throughout the development life cycle.

Job Description

• Perform End to End Test on NPI program at device as well as system level.
• Design, develop and test the software to ensure SW requirement compliance
• Analyze the test requirements to create effective and optimal test coverage
• Translate requirements and specifications into manual/automated test cases.
• Develop Phyton & scripts automatation to increase coverage and execution speed
• Work with the business and development team to formulate test strategy.
• Analyze, submit, and manage defects.
• Perform first level of root-case analysis of problems to formulate and recommend improved alternative operations.
• Work with the engineering team to produce hypothesis and to reproduce and validate issues
• Performs false failure analysis, troubleshoot and resolve issues in existing automation test setups
• Create, upgrade and maintain test tools & infrastructure if required for the tests
• Vehicle drive testing as needed
• Incorporate Gen AI into Test environment/framework.

Basic Requirements

• Bachelor Degree in Information Science / Communication Engineering / Software engineering or related fields
• Good knowledge in Python, Javascript, Angular, C, C# or other languages used for scripting
• Knowledge of Video Monitoring System, Client-Server Setup, Mobile Application Setup, Photography (Image Quality Knowledge) will be a plus
• Knowledge in Android, IoT, WiFI, LTE, DMR, video are added advantage
• Having Agile Methodology & using Gen AI in Software Automation and optimizing Quality Processes is a plus
• Works under general supervision, self-motivated and able to integrate well into a cross-functional team.
• Good English communication, interpersonal skill
• Customer focused and result oriented.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills along with an attention to detail and understanding of customer impact
• Experience with performance and/or security testing is a plus.
