Job summary

Motorola Solutions seeks an experienced test automation engineer to drive end-to-end testing for new product introductions in Bayan Lepas, Penang. You will develop Python-based automation, implement ML-driven improvements, and maintain CI/CD pipelines across Linux environments.

The role requires 5–8+ years in software development and test automation, strong Python, RESTful APIs, and cloud-based integration, with English proficiency and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Information Science, Communication Engineering or Software engineering or related field.
• Advanced proficiency in Python is mandatory, plus JavaScript, Angular, C, or other scripting languages.
• Experience automating RESTful APIs and integrating automated suites into cloud pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins).

Responsibilities

• Perform End to End Test on NPI program at device and system level.
• Drive test plan development and execution.

Department Overview
The Video Embedded Software Engineering Team at Motorola Solutions (MSI) delivers firmware for embedded devices such as in-car video systems, fixed video and body worn cameras. Working in close collaboration with other departments, engineers in this team excel at developing applications and drivers under Linux, and have a variety of backgrounds and specializations. The team uses modern C++ to develop highly reusable code, and utilize state-of-the-art systems and tools throughout the development life cycle.

Job Description

• Perform End to End Test on NPI program at device as well as system level.

• Drive test plan development & execution

• Develop Phyton & scripts automatation to increase coverage and execution speed

• Analyze the test requirements to create effective and optimal test coverage

• Collaborate with other engineering teams to integrate automated solutions seamlessly

• Maintain Jenkins / CICD pipeline

• Performs false failure analysis to identify failure patterns, troubleshoot and resolve issues in existing automation test setups

• Continuously evaluate, study, identify opportunities and enhance the automation process for efficiency

• Document the automation processes and system configurations for future reference if required

• Analyze, submit, and manage defects.

• Work with the engineering team to produce hypothesis and to reproduce and validate issues

• Create, upgrade and maintain test tools, infrastructure if required for the tests & test lab

• Develop and implement machine learning algorithms to enhance AI capabilities in improving automation solutions.

• Create and maintain documentation for AI model development and deployment processes.

• Test and validate AI models to ensure accuracy and reliability in real-world scenarios.

• Vehicle drive testing as needed

• Provide Leadership & Mentorship to the team

Basic Requirements

• 5 to 8+ years of experience in software development and test automation

• Bachelor Degree in Information Science / Communication Engineering / Software engineering or related fields

• Advanced proficiency in Python is mandatory, Javascript, Angular, C, C# or other languages used for scripting

• Automating RESTful APIs

• CI/CD & Infrastructure: Integrating automated suites into cloud pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins) and familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).

• Knowledge of Video Monitoring System, Client-Server Setup, Mobile Application Setup, Photography (Image Quality Knowledge) will be a plus

• Knowledge in Android, IoT, WiFI, LTE, DMR, video are added advantage

• Knowledge in AI - LLM fundamentals, Agentic Testing

• Having Agile Methodology & using Gen AI in Software Automation and optimizing Quality Processes is a plus

• Works under general supervision, self-motivated and able to integrate well into a cross-functional team.

• Good English communication, interpersonal skill

• Customer focused and result oriented.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills along with an attention to detail and understanding of customer impact

• Experience with performance and/or security testing is a plus.

• Candidate must be willing to work in Bayan Lepas, Penang.
