Job summary

Randstad Malaysia is seeking a skilled Software Engineer with strong Python experience to design, build, and maintain scalable backend systems. You will optimize existing services, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and contribute to production deployments.

Requirements include a BS/BA in CS or related field with CGPA 3.5+, 3+ years of Python development, and experience with Django, FastAPI, or Flask. Knowledge of PostgreSQL/MySQL and Docker is preferred.

Git, CI/CD pipelines, and containerization (Docker)

Responsibilities

About the Role

We are looking for a high-performing Software Engineer with deep expertise in Python to join our fast-growing engineering team. In this role, you will design, build, and maintain scalable software applications, optimize existing backend systems, and collaborate across teams to ship impact-driven technical solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Application Development: Architect, build, and maintain robust end-to-end Python applications and APIs.
Code Quality & Maintenance: Write clean, readable, maintainable, and well-tested code.
System Optimization: Monitor application performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize query speeds and service performance.
Collaboration: Partner with product managers, frontend engineers, and DevOps to deliver features from concept to production deployment.
Technical Rigor: Participate in code reviews, enforce engineering best practices, and mentor junior engineers.

Requirements & Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field with a CGPA of 3.5 or higher (or equivalent academic distinction).
Experience: 3+ years of hands-on professional software development experience primarily using Python.
Application Architecture: Proven track record of building and deploying production-grade backend systems or web applications (e.g., using Django, FastAPI, or Flask).
Databases: Strong proficiency with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and ORMs (e.g., SQLAlchemy).
API Development: Solid experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs or GraphQL endpoints.
Version Control & DevOps: Proficiency with Git, continuous integration (CI/CD) pipelines, and containerization tools (Docker).

Nice-to-Haves

Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
Familiarity with asynchronous programming in Python (asyncio, Celery, Redis).
Knowledge of microservices architecture and automated testing frameworks (pytest, unittest).
